Medhavi Skills University (MSU) is a government-notified private skills university established under a State Act in Sikkim, dedicated to promoting quality skill education and entrepreneurship integrated with higher education. As a pioneering institution in the convergence of the skilling ecosystem with higher education, MSU aligns with the National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP 2020). Recognized by the UGC and established in 2021, MSU collaborates with industries and Skill Development Institutes to offer work-integrated courses, embedding on-the-job internships and training within the curriculum. MSU is a recognized Awarding Body under the National Council for Vocational Education & Training (NCVET) and is empaneled with the Directorate General of Training (DGT). Role Overview:


We are looking for an experienced professional for the position of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academics) for driving strategic initiatives, with a focus on skill gap identification, competency-based curriculum, integration of skills in higher education, learning by doing, on job learning, programme outcomes attainment, technology-based monitoring and quality assurance, faculty upskilling and certification, research and innovation, programme success, student engagement, academic excellence and placement.

Key Deliverables:

Providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the academic programs, faculty and departments of the university Overseeing the development and implementation of academic policies and standards, ensuring they align with the university's vision, mission and goals. Fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, skill integration, research, and services across the university Overseeing and monitoring the administration of the academic programmes and general administration of the faculty to ensure efficiency and good order of the university Leading and managing academic staff, ensuring effective performance management, professional development, and succession planning Overseeing the development and administration of budgets for academic departments, ensuring financial efficiency and sustainability. Ensuring the university maintains high standards of academic quality and rigor through regular evaluation and enhancement of programs for competency focused higher education Leading efforts in accreditation, compliance, and regulatory reporting, ensuring adherence to national and international standards Assisting rapid growth of the university by creating effective processes and assuring their implementation and tracking to desired outcomes Leading the development and implementation of university policies related to academic affairs, research, and student services Ensuring policies are regularly reviewed and updated in line with best practices and regulatory requirements. Assuring the directives of the State Government, if any, and the provisions of this Act, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations are strictly observed and implemented Assuring the academic discipline remain in order, among students, teachers and academic officers Placing before the Academic Council a report of the work of the university periodically as required Developing and implementing strategies to enhance the university's reputation and rankings at national and international levels Contributing to the university's strategic planning process, particularly in areas related to academic growth, research, and innovation Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, industry partners, Alumni, and the Academic community Representing the university in external forums, conferences, and partnerships, promoting its interests and strategic priorities Promoting and supporting a vibrant research and innovation culture, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration for problem solving at the local, national or global level Overseeing the development and management of research initiatives, grants, and partnerships. Ensuring the delivery of a high-quality student experience, focusing on academic support, extracurricular activities, and career services Assuring prompt resolution of student grievances to be in place for an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

A distinguished academician with significant experience in Academic Administration e.g. Dean or above Ph. D in relevant field Strong track record of Research and Innovation Min. 10 Years of experience in Teaching in Higher Education and Research, and/or Skill Development, and/or Industry Experience, and/or Corporate L&D Maximum age for applying is 50 years. Strong understanding of NEP2020, NHEQF, NCrF, and its implications for higher education Understanding of Skill Development Practices, and its relevance to meet the Skill gap in the evolving Industry landscape A deep commitment to academic excellence and student success Proven ability to manage growing organization and lead change Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders within hybrid working environment Ability to be adapt to the changing demands of Education and Industry-Academic interface

Desirable Attributes:

Experience in strategic planning and policy development in an academic setting Knowledge of higher education trends, challenges, and opportunities in India and globally Ability to build and lead high-performing teams Experience with accreditation processes and quality assurance in higher education. Experience of using Technology platforms in Education e.g. ERP, UMS Possess the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institution building capability Experience with Skill development in higher education
