JOB DESCRIPTION :- PRINTING SUPERVISOR

A printing supervisor oversees daily printing operations to ensure high-quality, efficient production, managing staff, scheduling work, and maintaining machinery. Key duties include inspecting printed materials, troubleshooting technical issues, managing inventory and supplies, and coordinating with other departments to meet deadlines. They are also responsible for enforcing safety and quality standards and often train their team in new printing technologies.

Core responsibilities

Staff and workflow management:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of printing staff, assign tasks, and schedule work to meet production deadlines.

Quality control:

Inspect work-in-progress and finished products to ensure they meet quality and client specifications. This includes approving proofs and identifying and resolving defects.

Equipment maintenance:

Oversee the maintenance and repair of printing and bindery equipment to minimize downtime. This may also include scheduling preventive maintenance.

Inventory and supplies:

Maintain an accurate inventory of materials, inks, and supplies, and place requisitions for needed items.

Troubleshooting:

Resolve technical issues that arise during the printing process, such as problems with machinery or special ink mixtures.

Safety and compliance:

Ensure the production floor adheres to company policies, safety protocols, and industry standards.

Training and development:

Train staff on equipment operation and new printing technologies to improve skills and efficiency.

Required skills and qualifications

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Technical knowledge of printing equipment, materials, and processes. Ability to multitask, troubleshoot problems, and work under pressure. Experience with scheduling, cost estimation, and inventory management is often required. A degree in printing management, graphic arts, or a related field may be preferred, along with previous supervisory experience.
