Job Description

A printing machine operator sets up and operates various printing machines, such as offset, digital, or screen presses, to produce high-quality printed materials. Key responsibilities include loading and adjusting materials like ink and paper, monitoring the printing process for quality and accuracy, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs, and troubleshooting any issues that arise to minimize downtime. Key responsibilities

Machine setup and operation:

Install printing plates, adjust ink levels, load paper, and set machine controls for each specific print job.

Quality control:

Continuously monitor print runs for color accuracy, proper alignment, and overall quality, inspecting printed materials against client specifications.

Troubleshooting:

Identify and correct problems during the printing process, such as paper jams or misprints, to avoid material loss.

Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating the equipment, to ensure optimal performance.

Safety and standards:

Follow all safety protocols and quality control measures throughout the production process.

Digital file preparation:

Inspect and prepare digital files for print readiness on digital presses.

Workflow management:

Manage print job workflow, prioritize tasks, and maintain an inventory of printing supplies.
Required skills and qualifications

Technical knowledge:

Proficiency with specific types of printing machinery (e.g., offset, digital, flexographic).

Attention to detail:

A high level of detail is required for setup, monitoring, and quality checks.

Problem-solving:

The ability to troubleshoot and quickly resolve mechanical or process-related issues.

Manual dexterity:

Required for tasks like adjusting rollers, loading plates, and handling paper.

Basic computer skills:

Ability to use control panels and computer monitors to operate and adjust the machines.
