At Customer Trust Core Services (CTCS), we build innovative Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions to protect Amazon from those who attempt to misuse our capabilities for personal gains. Our systems analyze billions of Customer and Selling Partner interactions with Amazon worldwide in real-time to detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and policy violations. We're seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to architect our next generation of risk detection and prevention systems. You'll have significant autonomy to shape the technical strategy for our platforms, focusing on:

Scaling infrastructure to process billions of daily interactions Building limitless experimentation capabilities for fraud detection Implementing advanced AI/ML techniques for abuse prevention Developing Agentic AI solutions for automated risk detection Simplify our solutions, with lower cost and complexity Pioneering adoption of industry-leading technologies Use Technology to drive towards zero fraud and abuse at Amazon


Key job responsibilities

Technical Architecture & Innovation

Design critical systems to detect and prevent platform misuse Drive innovation in cloud infrastructure, ML, AI, and distributed systems Pioneer adoption of proven industry solutions to optimize cost, scale, and effectiveness Architect high-performance systems meeting sub-100ms latency requirements Lead development of Agentic AI for increasing automated risk assessment Implement AI-driven automation for operational excellence Exercise wide latitude in experimenting with SOTA technologies


Technical Leadership

Provide architectural guidance across multiple teams Partner with senior leadership on technical strategy and roadmap Mentor engineers and leaders to elevate technical excellence Drive engineering best practices and architectural decisions Lead complex technical initiatives spanning multiple organizations

Impact & Scope

Process and analyze every customer interaction with Amazon Design scalable, cost-effective risk detection solutions Enable rapid experimentation for new fraud patterns Transform risk operations through AI automation Influence technical direction across the organization Create resounding impact by adopting SOTA science and technology innovations Optimize operational costs while maintaining effectiveness

Core Services empowers Amazon teams with SOTA AI solutions at the lowest possible cost to protect Amazon from being misused by bad actors. Our solutions enable teams to operate autonomously while maintaining high effectiveness. We tackle exciting technical challenges in:

Real-time pattern detection at massive scale Advanced AI/ML solutions, use of LLMs for automation of manual work. Agentic AI solutions High scale distributed systems architecture Cost-optimized infrastructure

Few innovations from our team are - an Auto ML pipeline that learns from HITL actions to automate manual work require provide tags for our machine learning systems, a SOTA Anomaly Detection system, an automated pattern detection system for online streams, an automated model training system and a grain agnostic risk evaluation system.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

15+ years of professional software development experience Strong foundation in object-oriented design Expert knowledge of data structures and algorithms

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience designing large-scale distributed systems Expertise in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Track record of leading complex technical initiatives Background in AI/ML systems
