Role Title: Principal Software Engineer
Position Summary:
Leads and mentors in the design, development, and maintenance of multi-tiered business applications. Individuals holding this position are typically expected to be thought leaders in conjunction with solution architects and lead product teams from technical and delivery perspectives as well as work independently as a member of a team. Incumbents have a thorough understanding of available technology landscape, tools, and existing designs. This individual also participates fully in all team practices and standards. Interfaces with IT colleagues and other stakeholders to evaluate defined complex business requirements and processes, assess available technologies, determine infrastructure, and recommend solution options. Incumbents play a lead role in building application solutions which may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies, and tools and must ensure that technologies used align with enterprise-wide technical architecture and ensure consistency across products. Demonstrates personal accountability and ensures successful team outcomes by proactively identifying and mitigating delivery impediments, dependencies, and risks. Support in partnership with Solution and Test Architects quality efforts within the team.
Skill and Experience:

• 7 to 9 Years of Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions.
• Additional Experience Qualifier (optional) :10+ years of application development experience with large scale business applications in a fast-paced iterative development environment. 5+ years designing, developing, and implementing business applications from business concept through production. 3+ years experience leading business application development teams of 5+ team members.
• Proven expertise in architecting and guiding the design of APIs, reusable components, and integration services for enterprise-scale, cloud-native applications on Azure.
• Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture, with the ability to define secure API design standards and drive contract-first development across teams.
• Exceptional leadership in collaboration and communication; adept at influencing cross-functional teams, leading technical reviews, articulating complex concepts to diverse audiences, and ensuring delivery excellence with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
• Demonstrated ability to provide accurate estimates for highly complex solutions, balancing technical depth with strategic priorities while fostering engineering discipline.
• Track record of championing engineering best practices for code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, PBIs) at scale, ensuring consistency and reliability across multiple teams.
• Experience shaping integration strategies with emerging technologies such as Azure OpenAI and GPT APIs to enable advanced capabilities in backend systems.

Must Have Skills:
Software Engineering & Architecture:

• Deep expertise with C#, .NET, and enterprise application architecture for cloud-native, distributed systems.
• Architects microservices and event-driven systems; ensures contract-first APIs, versioning, and backward compatibility at scale.
• Establishes and evolves clean architecture boundaries, domain modeling, and interface contracts.
• Designs and curates shared libraries (telemetry, logging, auth, auditing) and manages packages via NuGet/NPM in JFrog or Azure Artifacts.
• Leads architecture and design reviews, including design documentation; provides technical mentorship and sets engineering standards for the team.
• Reinforces SOLID principles and clean code practices across all deliverables.

Cloud & DevOps:

• Advanced proficiency across Azure services: AKS, APIM, Key Vault, Service Bus, Blob Storage, Azure CLI; optimizes service selection and cost/performance tradeoffs.
• Strong Identity & Access architecture with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Azure B2C, MSAL, Key Vault, Akeyless; guides token flows and multi-tenant patterns.
• Engineers robust CI/CD with Azure DevOps Pipelines (multi-stage, environments, approvals), Helm Charts, artifact versioning, and rollout strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary).
• Explicitly works with Azure DevOps Repos for branching strategies and code governance.
• Builds and deploys containers using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS); authors and governs Helm Charts for environment consistency.
• Shapes observability strategy using Azure Application Insights and Dynatrace (SLIs/SLOs, distributed tracing, logging standards, dashboards, and alert policies).

Security & Authorization:

• Expert in OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, claims-based authorization, and RBAC/ABAC for services and APIs.
• Designs systems aligned to Zero Trust (network segmentation, identity-first authZ, least privilege by default, secret rotation).
• Drives secure SDLC and vulnerability management, integrating SAST/DAST/Secrets/Dependency scans (e.g., Veracode) with policy-based quality gates and remediation SLAs.
• Partners with security/compliance on attestations (e.g., SOC 2, PCI) and threat modeling initiatives.
• Exp with Observability and Azure cloud

Testing & Quality:

• Establishes comprehensive test strategies: unit, integration, contract, end-to-end, performance/load, and chaos/resilience testing.
• Builds/standardizes test automation frameworks and test data strategies; enforces CI quality gates and branch policies.
• Leads peer review rigor (design reviews, code reviews), refactoring practices, and tech debt reduction planning.

Enterprise SDLC & Governance:

• Owns technical direction for end-to-end delivery: architecture decisions, non-functional requirements, and operational readiness (runbooks, dashboards, SLOs/SLAs).
• Defines and enforces architecture governance (reference architectures, patterns, guardrails, versioning policies, API lifecycle).
• Shapes delivery practices in Azure DevOps (work item taxonomy/PBIs, branching, release strategies, approvals, traceability).
• Optimizes for performance, reliability, scalability, cost efficiency, and maintainability; makes build vs. buy vs. reuse decisions.

Data & Migration:

• Designs schema versioning and data compatibility strategies for distributed systems.
• Implements database migration workflows using Flyway (versioned migrations, roll-forward/rollback, environment promotion).
• Oversees data transformation and cross-domain integration patterns (events, CDC, contracts) with clear ownership boundaries.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Proven ability to mentor developers, lead design reviews, and influence technical decision-making.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills; experienced in architecture governance and community leadership.
• Ability to drive adoption of shared services and enforce engineering best practices across teams.
