Govern and Review safety metrics from time to time

Core Purpose of the Role:
  • The candidate will lead the veterinary operation and responsible to maintain the program standards in vivarium. The candidate will handle the operations of cross functional teams and serve as resource person for veterinary care, technical and service supports for various therapeutic areas Ensuring the AAALAC standards and good husbandry practices in vivarium by following the CCSEA and other international guidelines.
  • The incumbent will interact with investigators, enabling groups and management apart from day-to-day operations of vivarium by providing husbandry, veterinary care supports to various functional areas.
Role Accountabilities:
  • Manage veterinary science team and animal husbandry operations as per the AAALAC Program Description.
  • Ensuring CCSEA requirements and IAEC functions as per the requirements.
  • High quality animal care and welfare standards and maintenance of laboratory animals.
  • Ensuring GLP compliance and decontamination practices including audit process and archival of documents.
  • Investigators technical support by adhering 3R\'s principles, animal models, end point considerations of animal experiments for therapeutic areas of multi-functional teams.
  • Sentinel health monitoring program including alternative methods and maintaining disease-free status of laboratory animals.
  • Adequate veterinary care of laboratory animals and oversight of surgery, post-operative care and pain management.
  • Review of SOPs / Guidelines and implementation across the functional areas in vivarium.
  • Training of staff, Animal care personnel and Investigators as per the requirements.
  • Animal Imports licensing, sourcing of laboratory animals, quarantine process and documentation.
  • Handling of QA audits and responses as well as clients queries on veterinary sciences and animal welfare compliance aspects.
  • Budget management, inventory management and consumables procurement for routine facility operations.
  • Ensuring user safety as priority and monitoring safe practices at workplaces.
  • Coordinating with management, stakeholders towards continuous improvements of the facility / expansions and its standards.
  • Ensure all facility documentation is up to date and well maintained as per SOPs, IAEC protocols, animal census, Form Bs and Form Ds, quarantine records, facility maintenance records, animal health records, sanitation records, animal orders and receipt, inventory management and husbandry documents.
  • Ensure uninterrupted smooth functioning of the vivarium by liaising with cross functional support functions Engineering and Maintenance, EHSS, instrumentation, quality control/assurance team.
  • Serving as study veterinarian, post approval monitoring and verification of documents as needed.
  • Ensuring biowaste segregation, pest control program, documentation and upkeep of the facility maintenance and biosecurity.
  • Fostering / mentoring team, providing timely feedback to stakeholders and team members.

Experience
  • 12 - 15 Years
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Good at laboratory animal management.
  • Support investigators and knowledge on GLP including documentation.
  • Health monitoring program and crisis management
  • Knowledge on regulatory guidelines and implementation
Education
  • MVSC / PHD
