The role ensures quality education, adherence to regulatory requirements, student discipline, and continuous improvement in teaching, research, and community outreach.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Academic Leadership
Plan, implement, and monitor nursing curriculum as per INC and university guidelines.
Ensure timely conduct of theory and practical classes, clinical postings, and internal assessments.
Supervise preparation of lesson plans, academic calendars, and teaching schedules.
Promote research and evidence-based nursing education among faculty and students.
Ensure continuous evaluation and academic audits to maintain high-quality teaching-learning processes.
B. Administration & Management
Oversee daily operations of the college, including academics, clinical training, HR, and administration.
Manage budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for the college.
Supervise admissions, examinations, and student progression as per university and regulatory requirements.
Maintain discipline, decorum, and professional ethics among staff and students.
Liaise with hospitals, affiliating universities, and nursing councils for inspections and affiliations.
C. Human Resource & Faculty Development
Recruit qualified faculty and ensure their professional growth through training and workshops.
Conduct regular staff meetings, performance appraisals, and workload allocation.
Encourage innovative teaching methodologies and research publications.
Mentor and support faculty in curriculum planning and student guidance.
D. Compliance & Accreditation
Ensure compliance with
INC, State Nursing Council, University, and DME
regulations.
Maintain statutory records, registers, and documentation for audits and inspections.
Prepare annual reports, institutional data, and self-assessment documents for accreditation bodies.
E. Student Development & Welfare
Oversee counseling, mentorship, and career guidance for students.
Ensure safety, welfare, and grievance redressal mechanisms are in place.
Encourage extracurricular, NSS, and community outreach programs.
F. External Relations
Build partnerships with hospitals, healthcare organizations, and NGOs for clinical training and placements.
Represent the college in academic boards, nursing council meetings, and professional forums.
Strengthen alumni and parent engagement for institutional development.
Qualifications & Experience
M.Sc. Nursing from a recognized university (Ph.D. preferred).
Minimum
5 years of teaching experience
in nursing, including 2
years in administrative/leadership role
(Vice-Principal / Principal).
Registration with the
State Nursing Council
and
Indian Nursing Council
is mandatory.
Strong understanding of academic governance, accreditation, and nursing pedagogy.
