II. POSITION SUMMARY

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Principal Material & corrosion specialist. This individual is accountable for developing various Material & corrosion related deliverables/activities. This specialist will work closely with Engineering, construction & Operations.

• Task Significance:

The Materials & corrosion specialist will play a key role in Air Products commitment to a sustainable energy future and its position as the world's safest, most profitable, most diverse industrial gas company.

• Autonomy:

Little/no supervision with ancillary engineering support from other disciplines.

• Feedback:

Generalized feedback only. Not likely to know the full effectiveness of the completed task.

IV. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Development of the Project Material Selection Report/Guide and Material Selection Diagrams.

• Responsible for the materials selection according to corrosive environment and the project constraints.

• Provide technical support during project execution with regards to material selection & corrosion.

• Perform corrosion calculations for the expected corrosion mechanisms in the project.
• Being the contact point for project teams and inter-disciplines for the queries related to material & corrosion
• Participate in the meetings with Licensor, JVs, Vendors & Suppliers as required for resolving any technical issues.

• Support for prequalification and technical qualification for painting & insulation materials.

• Responsible for preparation/review of corrosion protection specification such as painting specification, wrapping & coating specifications. Cathodic protection etc.
• Shall have strong knowledge and competency in heat treatment requirements of materials based on fluid service, codes/standards, fabrication of piping & equipment, chemical cleaning.
• Maintain lessons learned for Materials Selection and other Engineering related issues during project. Participate in Audit & review as required.
• Close coordination/Interaction with global stake holders in Engineering & operations for corrosion & materials related queries.

• To provide material selection and corrosion management guidance to Project Teams & Operations as a materials & corrosion specialist for cost effective material selection and corrosion mitigation strategies which will ensure (technical) integrity of the materials applied in subsurface and surface hydrocarbon production, processing and transportation systems through their life cycle.

V. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of Bachelor or higher Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from accredited university. Additional Certification such as API 571, NACE-Corrosion Technologist is preferred/added advantage

Minimum total 18 years of working experience in various EPC companies.

Knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME, API,NACE, BS, EN & ISO.

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential. Ability to communicate with other region and external stakeholders.

Expertise in material selection (metallic & non-metallic), corrosion principles, metallurgy and welding, corrosion protection, corrosion management, pipeline inspection and maintenance, integrity of static equipment, cathodic protection and coating systems.

Experience in reviewing Licensors/vendors/contractors specifications/ company procedures and provide input to Engineering & construction.

Extensive knowledge of various base materials such as CS, SS, Low alloy, Exotic, cladded/Weld overlay and their failure Root cause analysis.

Significant experience in Materials & Corrosion requirements for High temperature & cryogenic service applications.

Demonstrated ability to contribute meaningfully as the Material & corrosion subject matter expert in an engineering organization. Additional advantage for paper publication in international conferences.
