1. Position Overview



The Principal serves as the academic and administrative head of the college, responsible for providing leadership in teaching, research, and community service consistent with the vision and mission of the institution. The Principal ensures compliance with the regulations of the University of Calicut, UGC, and Government of Kerala.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Academic Leadership



Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs as per the University of Calicut curriculum. Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and evaluation. Facilitate the preparation and timely submission of University-related documents such as syllabi, results, and examination reports. Promote research culture, faculty development, and innovation among teachers and students. Supervise student admission processes and maintain academic integrity and discipline.

B. Administrative Management



Act as the Chief Executive Officer of the college. Ensure compliance with University statutes, UGC regulations, and State Government policies. Supervise and evaluate teaching and non-teaching staff. Manage college finances, budgets, and accounts in consultation with the Governing Body. Maintain and upgrade physical infrastructure and learning resources. Ensure NAAC accreditation and other quality assurance initiatives (IQAC, AQAR, etc.).

C. Governance & Policy Implementation



Implement decisions of the Governing Body and College Council. Liaise with University of Calicut officials, the Directorate of Collegiate Education, and other statutory bodies. Ensure statutory records (service books, attendance, registers) are properly maintained.

D. Student Affairs & Community Engagement



Promote student welfare, discipline, and co-curricular and extension activities (NSS, NCC, clubs). Encourage community outreach and social responsibility programs. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and equitable campus environment.

E. Quality & Institutional Development



Lead NAAC, NIRF, and other accreditation/review processes. Promote digital learning, research collaborations, and academic partnerships. Develop institutional strategic plans aligned with university and government frameworks.

3. Qualifications (As per UGC & University of Calicut Norms)



A Master's Degree

with at least

55% marks

(or equivalent grade) from a recognized university.

Ph.D. Degree

in a relevant discipline.

Associate Professor/Professor

with a total experience of

at least 15 years

of teaching/research in a recognized institution. Evidence of academic leadership, quality research publications, and participation in academic governance. Fulfilment of

UGC Regulation 2018 (and subsequent amendments)

for appointment as Principal.

4. Skills and Competencies



Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strategic vision for academic excellence and institutional growth. Sound understanding of UGC, NAAC, and University of Calicut regulations. Financial prudence and administrative acumen. Commitment to ethical standards and inclusivity.
