Team Overview As a Principal Java Developer in this role you will be part of a team of around 12 software engineers who as a team are responsible for both the back-end and front-end development for our EquiLend Spire product used by financial institutions globally. This role sits within our Stonewain Systems team and you will be tasked with mentoring and developing your team, code reviews, pair programming as well as testing. This is a hands on development role with the potential to grow into a team lead position in the future. Our EquiLend Spire product is a state-of-the-art platform and technology-driven hub for securities finance firms of all types, including agent lenders, prime brokers, retail brokers, beneficial owners and collateral managers. If you are a skilled Principal Java Developer looking to for your next role within the finance space at a global company then maybe this is for you Role Responsibilities Design, develop, and test high-quality software solutions using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and JavaScript. Architect and design new features, influencing the continued growth and success of our trading platform. Write clear, efficient code to create robust, scalable, and secure applications. Develop and integrate microservices and REST APIs, ensuring high responsiveness and seamless integration of our platform. Ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices by conducting thorough code reviews. Promote and implement unit tests and functional testing across the team. Required Skills 4+ years of experience in Java software development. Expert knowledge of Java, Spring, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and SQL. You have worked in an agile environment building applications using microservices architecture Strong knowledge and experience of web technologies and REST APIs. Familiarity with unit testing frameworks like JUnit. You are passionate about mentoring and developing those around you You do not accept the status quo and are constantly looking for ways to improve Proven track record of writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code. Understanding of front-end frameworks such as Angular/ReactJS/VueJS is a plus, but not mandatory.
