Position Overview

The Principal serves as the

chief academic and administrative leader

of the engineering college, responsible for providing strategic direction, ensuring academic excellence, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving the institution's growth. The ideal candidate must be an experienced academic administrator with strong leadership, communication, and management capabilities.

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership

Oversee academic planning, program delivery, and continuous improvement across all departments. Ensure compliance with

AICTE, VTU, UGC, and Government of Karnataka

regulations. Promote quality teaching, research culture, and faculty development activities. Strengthen university affiliations, accreditation processes (NAAC/NBA), and academic audits.

Administrative & Strategic Management

Manage day-to-day operations including admissions, administration, and academic coordination. Plan and execute institutional development strategies, infrastructure upgrades, and new initiatives. Maintain strong discipline, ethical standards, and a positive academic environment. Monitor faculty performance, recruit qualified teaching staff, and foster a professional work culture.

Research, Collaboration & Industry Connect

Promote research publications, patents, and funded projects. Establish partnerships with industries, research organizations, and academic institutions. Support innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development programs for students.

Student Welfare & Campus Governance

Ensure a safe, inclusive, student-friendly environment. Oversee examination processes, placements, counseling, and grievance redressal. Engage with parents, stakeholders, alumni, and community partners.

Financial & Administrative Accountability

Manage budgets, resource allocation, and financial planning. Ensure transparent administration in accordance with institutional and statutory norms.

Required Qualifications (As per AICTE / VTU Norms)

B.E./B.Tech.

and

M.E./M.Tech.

in Engineering/Technology with

First Class or Equivalent

at both degrees.

Ph.D.

in a relevant engineering discipline

mandatory

(from a recognized Technical University). Significant academic and administrative experience as per

AICTE/VTU eligibility criteria

for Principals. Proven leadership record in an engineering college or university. Strong understanding of accreditation, regulatory frameworks, and outcome-based education (OBE). Excellent communication, team-building, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Minimum required teaching/administrative experience as stipulated by AICTE. Experience in leading NAAC/NBA accreditation, research initiatives, and academic reforms. Commitment to institutional development, discipline, and academic excellence. Ability to relocate and work full-time in Ballari (if not local).
