Key Competencies / Skills
Mandatory skills
Experience in team management responsibilities, including day-to-day operations and liaison with the UK team.
Significant experience in delivering a wide range of transport planning projects across a number of specialist areas, including development planning, scheme delivery, sustainable transport and active travel, junction design (priority, roundabout, signals) using AutoCAD/AutoTrack/PDS Line & Sign, and knowledge of relevant standards.
Overseeing the preparation of transport-related documents or their parts (Transport Assessments/Statements, Framework Travel Plans), input in transport ES chapters.
Working knowledge of trip rate calculations using TRICS, growth factors using TEMPRO, Census data analysis (Excel/GIS) - traffic distribution & assignment, traffic flow diagrams/analysis for ES Chapters, Accident Data analysis.
Working knowledge of junction modelling/capacity assessments using Junctions 10 (PICADY/ARCADY) and LinSig, with sufficient experience to be able to mentor others in the use of these programmes and interpret and challenge the results returned by them.
Analysing parking data and car park design.
Undertaking and/or overseeing masterplan reviews and providing advice to architects.
Preparation of briefs/specifications for Road Safety Audits, including Designer's Responses and traffic surveys.
Strong communication skills and desire to be a part of a successful close-knit team.
Experience and interest in mentoring junior team members.
Proven experience taking responsibility for line management, supervision and/or mentoring junior team members.
Cultural awareness and an open mind is essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team. You will be quick to pick up new ideas and skills and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems.
Desired skills
Knowledge/appreciation of GIS; Micro-simulation modelling (VISSIM/Paramics), VBA/Excel Macros, Economic Assessment, i.e. TUBA;
Ownership and updating of team Sharepoint site, fostering clear and up-to-date communication.
