We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Principal Engineer Trade Management and Lifecycle.

This role reports to Head of Equities Derivatives, Trade Management & Lifecycle with a regional reporting line into the Head of Equity Derivatives Technology in Pune. The individual in this role is empowered and accountable to develop and grow the engineering capability of the Trade Management & Lifecycle functional team, partnering with a global technology organisation to build competitive technology solutions.

Equities & Securities Financing (ESF) Technology is a global department within Markets & Securities Services (MSS) Technology and has teams in London, Paris, New York, Canada, Poland, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Pune \xe2\x80\x93 supporting businesses covering Cash Equities, Electronic Trading, Delta One and Flow Trading, Equity Derivatives, Prime Finance, Stock Borrow Loan, Repo and Futures. The organization is rapidly transforming both its people structure and ways of working to better align with our Front Office part of the business and increase the speed and quality of delivery. We are adopting a DevOps model driving agile delivery and building a strong product ownership group. The 2023 change portfolio is nine figures executed by c.950 technology professionals of which c.300 are in Equity Derivatives, of which c.100 are in Pune.

Principal responsibilities

The successful candidate will also be expected to drive forward the technical capabilities of the broader Equity Derivatives team in Pune through active participation in recruitment, mentoring and coaching as well as technical design and code review activities. This position will be instrumental in leading and managing the technical delivery of highly complex, business critical, front-to-back services for the purposes of processing structured equity derivatives transactions.

Their primary responsibility is to ensure continual delivery by areas of the Equity Derivatives technology organisation by using their significant expertise and skills to influence and lead key stakeholders in the delivery of solutions that adhere to HSBC Technology\'s strategic vision whilst meeting the strategic aims of the Equity Derivatives business function.

This person will provide positive, hands-on engineering leadership supported by proven experience in expert development, agile delivery and applying the latest technology solutions and architectures from the wider technology community to deliver change with maximum impact.

They will typically lead by example through all parts of the software delivery lifecycle and implement software that they deploy to production and support, and as such they will be able to mentor and develop other engineers. This role also takes accountability of the overall delivery, including the coordination of multiple dev-ops engineering pods, liaising with wider stakeholders including control functions. They will also provide engineering expertise and representation across the wider MSS technology organisation with particular focus on the Equities and Securities Financing department.

Requirements

Requirements

10-15 years of experience in developing and implementing software solutions

Experience in working Agile environment with a strong focus on developing engineering solutions

Proven ability to improve developer productivity \xe2\x80\x93 through automation and advanced technical skills

Strong leadership skills, team-builder and influencer

Exposure and success working within a global matrix organization model

Proven track record in developing, managing and implementing effective stakeholder management strategies

Gravitas and ability to interact with and advise senior executives

Ability to understand business issues and devise solutions that deliver results, constructing fresh approaches where

appropriate and making connections to other issues

Able to work within an ambiguous environment, prioritize and reconcile competing demands and resolve complex issues

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
