We are hiring a Principal Engineer -Track to lead our Transportation Systems (Rail & Transit) team in Noida, India, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of Canada GCC Track design projects and client satisfaction.
Your principal role will be day-to-day project management, carrying out concept studies and detailed designs, leading to planning applications or construction drawings. You will be supported by a team of technical staff at various job levels.
The role will include technical guidance, project management, cost and quality control and work brief preparation to enable the team to produce detailed designs for technical approval and tender/construction use.
The position will also involve internal client liaison, assisting in the preparation of fee proposals and financial control of projects when acting as a team lead/ project lead.
In leading the design process, you will be expected to set clear goals for the team members, monitoring their progress closely and encouraging them to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions to the agreed programme. You will also be expected to support those more inexperienced by technical review, mentoring and advice
To set frameworks for assurance of technical performance and quality within the Track discipline.
To maintain an internal and external network across the Rail & Transit sector to build knowledge of our market, the competitive landscape and the current and future needs of our clients
To supervise and direct the Track design projects and assist in the professional and technical development of junior members of staff.
Coordinate the production and timely delivery of the Track alignment designs from a range of internal and external clients.
Complete the day-to-day design team activities for all the railway projects, and experience with Canadian and North American Standards is desirable.
Write Track design specifications and alignment criteria.
Undertake the Track design checking, peer review technical reports, and provide structured, positive feedback.
Attend interdisciplinary design reviews and undertake interdisciplinary design checks.
Provide support to and participate in client advisory roles.
Promote professional development in the discipline. To support the development of technical training as required for the improvement of the Track discipline.
You will be responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme and technical standards and meet QA, Sustainability and HSE requirements.
Cultural awareness, an open mind and excellent English communication skills are essential requirements for the role.
You will manage technical design delivery for multiple Canadian projects, coordinating with WSP's CA-based lead design teams to meet schedule, quality, and budget goals. You will also work with local team leaders to ensure effective resource allocation and address any staffing issues promptly.
Mandatory Competencies and Skills
Minimum of 10-12 years of experience and proven experience in handling a team and successfully delivering the project to the client's satisfaction.
You should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of and experience in Railways as well as a wide knowledge of the Development Industry.
Proficiency in planning and designing deliverables in accordance with Canadian Engineering standards at each phase of the project is required.
Canadian Rail project experience and skilled in developing design solutions that comply with all applicable codes and specifications, with a willingness to fully learn and apply Canadian and North American standards.
Demonstrates strong personal ownership and responsibility in delivering high-quality results for clients and supporting team objectives.
Proactively explores opportunities to add value and enhance both individual and team performance.
Proficient in preparing drawings required for legal adoption, technical approvals, and contract documentation.
Able to communicate a clear vision and inspire others with energy, enthusiasm, ownership, and personal commitment.
Software Skills:
Demonstrated experience and strong proficiency in using Open Rail Designer, Civil 3D and Rail Modelling Software.
Should have working knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD
Demonstrated knowledge of Generative Components (GC)/ Dynamo for the automation/ any computational design tool
Knowledge of Gauge Analysis tools.
Familiarity with ProjectWise, ACC, and SharePoint
Qualifications
Master of Science in Transportation Engineering or a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Professionally qualified as PEng/ CEng/ IEng / any equivalent professional qualification.
