esponsibilities
T

his role is for a Principal Engineer - Structures on mining projects.
P

repare foundation, steel structure & concrete structure designs calculation in compliance with industry standards. P
erform analysis and design using software like Space Gass, STAAD Pro, SACS, Tekla, E3D, or S3D. S
olid understanding of Australian Standards (AS) and international codes. C
oordinate with other engineering disciplines (piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) for seamless project execution. P
repare civil and structural drawings, specifications, and design calculations. C
alculate loads and select structural members based on forces and service demands. D
esign structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects of various sizes with the main focus on industrial projects. D
esign of shallow and deep foundations, concrete piles, underground concrete vaults and tunnels, and slab reinforcement for a variety of loading conditions. D
esign of steel structures including building, additions, access platforms including ladder and stair details, trusses, two-legged bents and four-legged support towers. D
evelop a variety of structural connections including unique connections caused by field interferences. V
erify field conditions, constructability of designs, and assist in resolving problems during field construction. I
nterpreting and designing from a variety of different domestic and foreign structural building design codes. D
evelop familiarity with WSP standard drawings, specifications, general practices, procedures, Client specific standards. P
repare reports, designs, and drawings. R
edline drawings for CAD Designers and review updated submittals for accuracy. E
stablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and team members. M
ust complete a high-quality self-check of own work with efficiency. Shall follow internal QC processes. R
eporting progress of work assignment to immediate supervisor. Understands the project schedule and budget requirements. C
ommunicate with internal peers and project team and required to answer questions regarding deliverables. C
apable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required. C
oordinating with Australian lead offices as per project requirement. A
ctively participate in the design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process. P
rovide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Lead Engineer or project manager in AU. E
nsure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies. S
upport the company's approach to sustainability. B
e able to communicate in a multi-disciplinary project team. B
e willing to learn and be polyvalent. I
dentify improvements (where possible) to enhance WSP service to clients. Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline. C

ualifications

4-18 years of experience in structures engineering. M
inimum of a bachelor's degree in civil & preferred master's degree in civil/structure engineering. S
trong organizational, technical, and communication skills. S
trong attention to the detail. F
amiliar with working in a LEAN environment. E
xperience with projects in Australia, New Zealand would be an advantage. E
xcellent written and verbal communication skills, in English. C
. Eng, P. Eng qualification would be an added advantage. W
