This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer in India.
As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the development and maintenance of mission-critical platform software that underpins complex avionics systems. You will contribute as an independent technical leader, guiding design, coding, testing, and verification efforts across embedded systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor offshore engineers to enhance team competency. You will ensure adherence to industry standards, manage technical risks, and drive the successful delivery of software components. The position requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise, strategic planning, and team leadership in a high-performance engineering environment.
Accountabilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical embedded platform software.
• Lead and coordinate with both onsite and offshore teams, nurturing skills and competencies.
• Guide technical execution, manage dependencies, identify risks, and escalate issues proactively.
• Mentor team members on future technologies, best practices, and ethical work standards.
• Design, document, test, install, and support software applications and systems.
• Ensure proper integration and interaction with external hardware and software components.
• Maintain technical ownership for project milestones and deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with 10+ years of experience in embedded software development and verification.
• Hands-on experience with SDLC stages under DO-178 B/C guidelines.
• Strong C and Embedded C programming skills, Linux shell scripting.
• Expertise in RTOS concepts, multicore/multithreaded environments (VxWorks, Lynx OS).
• Solid understanding of processor architectures (ARM, PowerPC) and device driver implementation.
• Experience with software configuration management and change control tools (DOORS, JAMA, SVN, JIRA, GIT, Confluence).
• Familiarity with embedded development tools, debuggers, JTAG, and analyzers.
• Knowledge of structural coverage analysis, unit test automation, and software certification processes.
• Proficiency in quality audits and compliance procedures.
• Advantageous: Python, shell scripting, batch files, Agile methodology experience, and familiarity with ARINC 653/665, AFDX specifications.
