This position encompasses both execution and transformation roles behind technical solutions, ensuring that the products architecture aligns with the technology roadmap and adheres to our engineering standards. The role will be responsible for designing and implementing secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions while also overseeing operational processes to ensure efficient performance and reliability.This role will require building strong internal and external partnerships and will collaborate daily with other team members located in US, Europe and Asia. It uniquely combines technical and programming skills with a broad exposure to clinical data processing as well as collaboration with multiple functions in clinical development.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership and Expertise:

• Define and lead all aspects of the overall engineering and technology architecture, roadmap, and technical decisions, using modern design patterns and architectural principles for the product needs in coordination with the Technical Product Manager, Product Group Lead Engineer, and Business Unit Architect.
• Help and mentor squad members problem-solve technical challenges and guide them on implementing the solution.
• Accountable for code written by team members that is high quality, well documented, aligned to standards, efficient, and is easy to maintain
• Act as a solution architect for the team

Development and Problem-Solving:

• Develop and document cloud-based architecture using AWS services to support application deployment.
• Design and implement full stack applications that meet business requirements, applying modern frameworks and technologies.
• Effectively engage in build activities while supporting system architecture /design/code reviews; facilitate technical challenge problem-solving within the squad using the technology strategy as a guide.
• Scale pilot projects into production-ready systems, focusing on performance, reliability, and quality while mitigating risks through quality assurance during scaling efforts.
• Create data pipelines and data models using Databricks and integrate them with AWS data storage solutions like S3 and RDS.
• Establish design patterns, coding standards, and architectural guidelines to ensure high-quality work.

System Maintenance and Operations:

• Lead the deployment of applications and data solutions into the cloud environment, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
• Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track application and infrastructure performance. Use tools like AWS CloudWatch and Databricks monitoring features.
• Be responsible for the implementation of security measures (e.g., IAM roles, security groups) to protect cloud resources and data.
• Monitor resource usage and costs, recommending adjustments for better efficiency and savings.
• Develop and maintain incident response plans, addressing operational issues swiftly and effectively.
• Ensure effective operations by ensuring stability, performance, and availability of the supported platforms' capabilities by addressing system issues, data inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Assist in data migration from legacy systems, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with business rules.
• Manage technical debt, including vulnerability scanning

Qualification:Education:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or related field is required. A Masters degree is preferred.

Experience and Skills:Required:

• At least seven (7) years of IT and business experience.
• At least three (3) years of relevant Databricks experience.
• At least five (5) years of full-stack development and solution design experience on data intensive applications
• Extensive experience with full AWS stack and proficiency with other cloud services as GCP, or Azure
• Expertise in Databricks and experience with Spark for big data processing.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experienced in Data Engineering & Analytics, Cybersecurity, Emerging Technologies, Decision Science & Intelligent Automation, Cloud DevOps & Security, Device / Software / Platform Engineering
• Experience in Product Development, with specific experience in software development and engineering.
• Experience managing technical priorities within the Backlog functional knowledge including CI/CD pipelines, test automation, solution architecture, API architecture and design, and systems integration
• Strong SDLC (Agile framework) foundation in areas Testing, IT Project Management, Systems Support, and IT Compliance.
• A history of working on large enterprise projects across multi-functional teams.
• Ability to translate business requirements into actionable IT solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on both design and operational excellence.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision

Preferred:

• Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
• Knowledge of back-end frameworks.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of Data Management or/and Statistical Computing platforms.
• Strong understanding of global clinical regulations, computer systems validation, and compliance requirements.
• Must possess ability to think analytically, be quality results oriented and customer focused.

Other:

• Understanding of AI/ML concepts within a pharmaceutical business environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular) is a plus.
• Position will require up to 10% domestic travel
