About the Team




Omnichannel Merchandising technology teams own critical platforms that manage the onboarding, maintenance and serve of core entities for the entire enterprise such as vendor and item. The item platforms managed by these teams are responsible for rapidly delivering new kinds of capabilities as Lowe's expands its business offerings across different areas for DIY, PRO customers across core products, services and labor. Our item platforms serve all of Lowe's across all its channels - stores and digital - and continue to enable multiple different business use cases, while enabling vendors to quickly onboard new items and enabling merchants and operations to comprehensively manage these.

Job Summary:




The Principal Software Engineer will influence a wide variety of business and technology decisions. This role will design, implement, and deliver cross-functional solutions for highlycomplex problems. This role will provide technical direction for an organization and set up an excellent engineering culture.

Identifies problems, takes initiative, and makes an impact by driving clarity, convergence, and closure across teams and stakeholders. Actively looks out for tough problems (i.e., issues faced by customers, challenges faced by engineers, problems encountered by business leaders, etc.). Defines and executes the technical strategy for retail technology, ensuring alignment with business objectives, in collaboration with senior leadership. Decomposes complex problems to build simple solutions that can evolve over a period of time. Ensures smooth deployment and adoption of new systems in partnership with product owners and key stakeholders. Owns the end-to-end technical view of a solution and shapes the synergy between multiple systems. Identifies and analyzes tradeoffs to create exemplary architecture in terms of stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Champions and implements modern software methodologies to streamline development processes. Provides technical leadership in design and development of a system. Ensures the best quality of high-level and low-level designs. Builds secure systems that protect information and assets while delivering business value. Dives deep and fixes a complex system issue. Drives root cause analysis during critical production outages.

Roles & Responsibilities:



Core Responsibilities:



Develop scalable and intelligent platforms for Enterprise Item and Global Merchandising technology teams that align with company goals and customer needs Build a deep domain understanding of the Item and Global merchandising systems that aligns with best in the industry that will drive the technology strategy for the next 5 years Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, applying innovative solutions to providing customers a seamless collaborative shopping experience and understanding the omni order management challenges Independently lead projects with significant business implications, participating in planning, priority estimates, and advising Software Engineers. Mentor and advise others in all software development lifecycle phases, sharing an in-depth understanding of company and industry methodologies, policies, standards, and controls. Support systems integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for large, complex, cross-functional application initiatives, ensuring proper test coverage. Communicate changes in software architecture, coach others to apply this understanding to software solutions, and resolve escalated issues.

Years of Experience:



10 years of experience in software development or related field 8 years of experience in any of the following: software engineering competencies frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware (microservices and APIs), database technologies, DevOps 8 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)

Education Qualification & Certifications



Required Minimum Qualifications

:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree)

Skill Set Required



Primary Skills (Required)



6 years of IT experience developing and implementing business systems within an organization 6 years of experience working with source code control systems, defect or incident tracking software, and/or writing technical documentation in a software development environment 6 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high level design for complex solutions 4 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework 4 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports Experience working with Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment tools
