JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL DESIGNER - PIPING (OFFSHORE)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise Piping design activities and accountable for successful completion of projects within allocated Cost, Time, and Resources.
  • Lead a team of 3D modelers for successful execution and delivery of work packages to construction.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other discipline design supervisors, Designers on day-to-day basis for successful execution of the work.
  • Participate in internal meetings for design issues and progress tracking.
  • Establish effective communication with Engineering Centre offices.
  • Conduct design reviews, 3D model reviews, workshops and take necessary close-out actions.
  • Review 3D model on daily basis to identify design improvements required and suggest Designing team.
  • Update work progress to Lead Engineer and provide necessary inputs for meetings and discussions.
  • Prepare inter discipline inputs and ensure common understanding for Corridor Support, Common support arrangements.
  • Suggest ideas to other disciplines for bulk routing in congested spaces (HVA/C ducts, HV cables).
  • Evaluate software and hardware requirements for 3D model and 2D drafting activities and notify to Lead Engineer.
  • Lead the MTO activities at various stages of the project and ensure accuracy of inputs.
  • Provide inputs on design changes based on Design change notices (DCNs) and notify potential variation orders.
  • Ensure compliance of design based on sound engineering practices, company standards, client contract requirements and based on international codes and standards.
  • Manage the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC's) coordinate for integration of data inputs.
  • Ensure timely issuance of deliverables and timely completion of activities.
  • Perform / supervise review of vendor drawings and documents.
  • Strictly ensure compliance with Company's ISO Quality procedures and QMS guidelines. Support Internal and Client audit requests, facilitate audit procedures piping.
  • Promote safety awareness in strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
  • Participate in preparation and implementation of standard design guides, standard drawings and checklists as part of Department Developmental activities.
  • Interface and provide clarification, guidance and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers at yard and offshore.
  • Depending on requirement, act as 3D Model Coordinator and Support Coordinator handling multi-discipline Supports.
  • Work on tendering activities for preparation of concept layouts, 3D Model and MTO for costing.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Diploma Holder in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent certificate with a minimum of 15-20 years of related offshore Wind Energy, offshore Oil & Gas, Petroleum / Petrochemical industry experience.
  • Preferably from a working background in EPC Companies for offshore Oil & Gas, Wind Energy industries.
  • Experience in offshore fixed structures including Wind Substation Platforms (including HVAC, HVDC) is desired.
  • Knowledge of working with European clients, European OEMs and exposure to European Safety and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge on relevant international codes & standards like EN, DNVGL, ANSI, ASME, API, MSS, BS, ISO, NACE.
  • Possess supervising, Team Leading skills for activities in 3D modelling, piping studies, drawing extraction, drafting and MTO activities between various Engineering centers.
  • Exposure to long duration mobilization at construction yards and short visits to offshore platforms.
  • Expertise and experience in following Software as a minimum:
  • E3D, PDMS (Proficient)
  • Navisworks Simulate (Proficient)
  • AutoCAD (Proficient)
  • Office Tools (Proficient)
