Job Description

The Principal Architect is the senior technical leader responsible for defining and overseeing the organization's architecture strategy, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business objectives. This role provides architectural guidance across multiple complex initiatives, mentors engineering teams, and drives technical excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Define, communicate, and drive the company's technology and architecture vision. Lead end-to-end architecture planning for large-scale, complex, distributed systems. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and platforms. Create architectural standards, reference models, and best practices. Collaborate with product leadership to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Guide engineering teams in designing high-quality solutions that meet performance, security, and reliability requirements. Conduct architecture reviews and provide governance across projects. Identify and mitigate technical risks and long-term implications of decisions. Lead proofs of concept (POCs) and technology assessments for emerging tools and platforms. Drive modernization efforts including cloud adoption, microservices, data platforms, etc. Influence and mentor senior engineers, staff engineers, and technical leads. Present architectural strategies and trade-offs to executives and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 12+ years of professional experience in software engineering or systems architecture. Proven track record architecting and delivering large-scale enterprise or cloud-native systems. Deep expertise in one or more areas (examples): Distributed systems / microservices Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) Data platforms & integration Security & compliance architectures DevOps / CI-CD / Infrastructure as Code API, event-driven and service-oriented architectures (SOA) Strong understanding of scalability, performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery. Hands-on coding background in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, C#, JavaScript/Node.js).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience defining technology strategy at an enterprise level. Certification(s) such as AWS/Azure/GCP Architect or TOGAF. Experience with AI/ML, edge computing, IoT, or other emerging technologies. Demonstrated success influencing executives and cross-functional teams without direct authority.
