Lead the conceptualization, design, and detailing of press tools (blanking, piercing, forming, bending, Conventional & Progressive tools).
Ensure designs meet client specifications and production requirements.
Conduct component feasibility studies and prepare die layouts.
Project & Team Management
Supervise tool design engineers and technicians.
Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality benchmarks.
Conduct tool performance tests and make necessary adjustments.
Oversee bill of materials (BOM) preparation for raw materials and assemblies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with production, procurement, and maintenance teams to optimize tool performance.
Support tool manufacturing and assembly processes.
Provide post-design support during tool trials and production.
Cost & Resource Management
Estimate tool costs and prepare quotations.
Select appropriate raw materials and manage procurement.
Optimize designs for cost efficiency and durability.
Balancing cost vs. quality
: Must ensure tools are durable without overspending.
Keeping up with technology
: CAD/CAM software and automation evolve rapidly.
Production bottlenecks
: Poor tool design can delay manufacturing.
Safety compliance
: Non-compliance can lead to accidents or legal issues.
Conversant on working:
with Solid works, CATIA & AutoCAD.
