We are seeking a Press Shop Supervisor to oversee daily production activities, ensuring goals for output, quality, and efficiency are met. Key responsibilities include supervising press machine operators, monitoring production and machine utilization, maintaining a clean and safe environment, managing manpower, ensuring quality control, and maintaining production records. The role also requires a strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic presses, sheet metal processes, and tools like 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Key responsibilities
Production management:
Plan and execute daily production based on the schedule, monitor shift-wise output, and ensure targets are met.
Manpower management:
Deploy and guide a team of operatives and technicians, train staff, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Quality control:
Ensure all output meets quality standards, conduct quality checks, and control rejection rates. This includes using quality tools and identifying defects.
Equipment and safety:
Oversee the operation of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic presses. Ensure machine maintenance and a clean and safe shop floor, adhering to 5S principles.
Record keeping:
Maintain accurate records related to production, rejections, material movement, and manpower productivity.
Continuous improvement:
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. Monitor manufacturing processes and take corrective actions.
Required skills and knowledge
Technical knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic presses, sheet metal processes, die setting, and related machinery.
Quality assurance:
Proficiency with quality control tools (e.g., 7 QC Tools, Poka Yoke), quality standards, and root cause analysis.
Process improvement:
Basic knowledge of TPM, OEE, Lean Manufacturing, and Kanban principles.
Supervisory skills:
Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and coaching abilities.
Analytical and administrative skills:
Ability to analyze production data, track expenses, and update production-related data in ERP systems.
Tools and measurement:
Familiarity with measuring instruments like Vernier calipers and micrometers.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in a press shop environment from the Scaffolding Industry.
