The Academic Head is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the academic programs of the preschool. This role ensures that the curriculum aligns with early childhood education best practices, regulatory requirements, and the vision and mission of the school. The Academic Head provides guidance and training to teachers, oversees classroom quality, and drives continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Design & Implementation
Develop and update curriculum plans, lesson frameworks, and learning materials.
Ensure programs meet developmental milestones and standards of early childhood education.
Integrate innovative teaching methodologies, including play-based and experiential learning.
Academic Quality Assurance
Conduct regular classroom observations and audits.
Monitor lesson delivery and learning outcomes.
Guide teachers in addressing learning gaps and enhancing instructional practices.
Teacher Training & Development
Plan and deliver orientation and ongoing training programs for educators.
Mentor teachers through coaching, modeling, and feedback.
Support professional growth and skill development of the academic team.
Parental Engagement & Communication
Organize parent orientation and workshops about the academic program.
Address parent concerns related to curriculum and student development.
Share progress reports and learning updates regularly.
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure adherence to local/state regulations, health and safety policies, and accreditation standards.
Maintain accurate documentation and records as required.
Strategic Academic Planning
Analyze student performance data to inform curriculum adjustments.
Recommend resources, tools, and materials to enhance learning.
Support enrollment and retention through high-quality academic programming.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education Management, or a related field.
Minimum 10+ years of teaching experience in preschool/early years settings, with at least 7+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong understanding of early childhood pedagogy and curriculum frameworks.
Excellent leadership, mentoring, and people management skills.
Proficient in curriculum planning, observation tools, and assessment methods.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of organizational and problem-solving ability.
