About the Role
We are looking for
energetic, empathetic, and highly motivated Pre-Sales Interns
to join our
Business Development
team.
In this role, you'll act as the
first point of contact for aspiring authors
, guiding them through their publishing journey. You'll connect with potential authors, understand their stories and goals, qualify leads, and ensure they are smoothly transitioned to the sales team for further engagement.
This position is ideal for
students or recent graduates
who love reading, storytelling, communication, and want to gain hands-on experience in the publishing and startup ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with aspiring authors via
calls, WhatsApp, and email
to understand their publishing goals.
Identify and qualify leads by categorizing them as
Cold, Warm, or Hot
based on engagement level.
Maintain detailed records of author interactions and updates in the
CRM (LeadSquared)
.
Collaborate closely with the Sales team to ensure
seamless author onboarding and handover
.
Meet or exceed daily and monthly
lead qualification and conversion targets
.
Share insights from author conversations to improve scripts and outreach strategies.
Participate in regular team huddles, feedback sessions, and performance reviews.
Maintain a
positive, professional attitude
while representing IndiePress's brand voice.
Requirements
Excellent
verbal and written communication skills
in
English and Hindi
.
Strong interpersonal and listening skills -- must be comfortable speaking with authors and professionals.
Highly
motivated, target-driven, and eager to learn
about sales and publishing.
Ability to work in a
fast-paced startup environment
and manage multiple conversations efficiently.
Prior experience or internship in
Pre-Sales, Inside Sales, or the Publishing/EdTech
industry is a plus.
Familiarity with
CRM tools
like LeadSquared, HubSpot, or Zoho CRM is an advantage.
Bachelor's degree (pursuing or completed) in any discipline.
