About the Role
The Pre-Primary Coordinator will be responsible for leading and managing the Pre-Primary section (typically Nursery, LKG, UKG) of the school. They will ensure a high-quality, safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment; support and mentor the teaching team; oversee curriculum implementation; liaise with parents; and ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Pre-Primary department.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Curriculum
Develop, implement and review an age-appropriate curriculum for Pre-Primary students aligned with the school's vision and educational standards.
Supervise and guide Pre-Primary teachers and assistants in lesson planning, teaching methodologies, and use of learning materials.
Conduct regular classroom observations, provide constructive feedback and ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Monitor and evaluate student development (cognitive, social, emotional, physical) and collaborate with teachers to address learning or behavioural gaps.
Staff Management & Professional Development
Mentor and support Pre-Primary staff: set performance expectations, support professional development, organise training/workshops.
Assist in recruitment, induction and appraisal of Pre-Primary teaching staff as required.
Foster a collaborative, child-centred culture among staff.
Parent & Community Engagement
Organise parent orientation sessions, workshops, meetings and communications (newsletters, circulars) to engage parents in their child's learning.
Address parent queries/concerns and build positive parent-school partnerships.
Coordinate events, celebrations, field-trips, and other activities for the Pre-Primary section.
Operations & Resource Management
Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Pre-Primary section: classroom setup, teaching aids, materials, play-areas, safety, hygiene and logistics.
Manage inventory of teaching/learning resources, purchase of stationery, toys, play & educational materials.
Ensure compliance with all statutory, safety, health and child protection guidelines and maintain proper records (attendance, progress reports, incident logs etc.).
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure the Pre-Primary section meets quality benchmarks in early childhood education: play-based learning, developmentally appropriate practices, inclusive environment.
Keep up-to-date with latest practices in early childhood education and implement improvements.
Report regularly to the leadership (Principal / Academic Head) on performance, initiatives and improvement plans.
