Job Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and compassionate

Public Relations (PR) Counselor

to join our immigration team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building trust and engagement with diverse communities, managing media relations, and creating public awareness around immigration services and policies. You will serve as a key spokesperson and advisor, ensuring our messaging is clear, empathetic, and aligned with legal and social standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement PR strategies to promote immigration services and programs. Craft compelling stories and messages that humanize immigration issues and highlight success stories. Serve as a liaison between the organization and media outlets, advocacy groups, and community organizations. Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, blog posts, and informational content tailored for immigrant communities. Manage social media presence and public messaging to reflect a welcoming and inclusive image. Organize press conferences, webinars, and community outreach events. Monitor public sentiment, media coverage, and immigration policy developments. Provide media training and interview preparation for spokespersons or clients. Support crisis communication efforts related to immigration issues or sensitive cases. Translate complex immigration updates into accessible language for diverse audiences.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Social Work, or a related field. 1+ years of experience in PR, preferably in a nonprofit, legal aid, or immigration-related setting. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a culturally sensitive approach. Experience working with immigrant communities and understanding of immigration systems. Ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations with professionalism and care. Proficiency in PR tools, social media platforms, and basic content management systems. Multilingual abilities (especially in Spanish, French, Arabic, or other commonly spoken immigrant languages) are a strong plus.
