Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented
PPC Engineer
to manage and optimize the production planning and control functions in our automotive seat structure manufacturing plant. The role involves ensuring timely availability of materials, efficient scheduling, and cross-functional coordination to meet customer delivery timelines with optimal resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning:
Prepare monthly, weekly, and daily production plans based on customer schedules and demand forecasts.
Coordinate with sales, customer service, and design teams to understand order requirements and lead times.
Convert the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into detailed daily production orders for each department or work center.
Ensure alignment of production planning with available raw materials, manpower, machine capacity, and inventory levels.
Production Control:
Monitor day-to-day production activities and ensure alignment with the planned schedule.
Identify production delays or bottlenecks and take corrective action to maintain output targets.
Collaborate with shop floor supervisors, quality control, and maintenance teams for real-time issue resolution.
Dynamically adjust plans in response to unexpected events such as machine breakdowns, urgent orders, or raw material issues.
Inventory and Material Coordination:
Maintain accurate records of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
Work closely with the stores and procurement teams to ensure availability of materials as per the plan.
Track material consumption and ensure it aligns with the bill of materials (BOM) for each product.
Support just-in-time (JIT) material flow and contribute to lean inventory practices.
Data Management & Reporting:
Maintain production dashboards and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, yield, and line efficiency.
Utilize ERP/MRP systems for order creation, material tracking, and schedule updates.
Provide regular reports and insights to support capacity planning and manpower forecasting.
Analyze past trends to improve future planning accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
2-4 years of experience in a PPC role in automotive or metal component manufacturing.
Strong understanding of production workflows, routing, BOM structures, and capacity planning.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Infor, or local equivalents).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, or other production planning tools.
Preferred:
Experience in automotive seating or sheet metal/structural component manufacturing.
Exposure to lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Kaizen, and Kanban systems.
Familiarity with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Soft Skills
Excellent coordination and communication skills across departments (production, stores, quality, etc.).
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Effective time management and the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Working Conditions
Split between office and shop floor environment.
May require extended working hours during peak production or new product launch phases.
