Core responsibilities Production planning and scheduling
Create production plans
: Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on project timelines and client orders.
Prepare bill of materials (BOM)
: Create or verify BOMs by analyzing the engineering drawings for each project.
Capacity planning
: Assess and allocate the required machine and manpower resources to meet production goals.
Inter-departmental coordination
Coordinate with design/engineering
: Work with the engineering team to ensure timely release of drawings and clarify specifications.
Liaise with procurement and stores
: Communicate material requirements and schedules to the procurement team to ensure all necessary raw materials are available on time. Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
Collaborate with fabrication
: Coordinate with the shop floor fabrication teams, including welding and finishing departments, to monitor progress and address any issues.
Communicate with logistics
: Work with the logistics and dispatch teams to plan the timely shipment of finished goods to the construction site.
Production monitoring and control
Monitor shop floor progress
: Track production output and monitor performance to ensure fabrication activities stay on schedule. Conduct daily meetings to review progress.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks
: Spot potential delays or roadblocks in the production process and implement corrective measures to get the project back on track.
Manage material tracking
: Keep detailed records of the materials used and maintain work-in-progress (WIP) records.
Alert management
: Escalate any major delays that could affect delivery targets to senior management.
Quality and process improvement
Support quality control
: Work with the quality control (QC) department to ensure fabricated components meet the required quality standards. Assist in preparing for inspections.
Implement process improvements
: Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements to boost productivity and reduce costs.
Ensure compliance
: Maintain quality and safety standards throughout the production process.
Required skills and qualifications
Education
: Typically requires a diploma or bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience
: Candidates generally need 3-5 years of experience in a relevant manufacturing or engineering field, with specific experience in the PEB industry often preferred.
Technical expertise
: Strong knowledge of fabrication workflows, production coordination, and material management.
Software proficiency
: Competence with ERP systems, MS Excel, and basic AutoCAD is often required.
Soft skills
: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for coordinating with various teams and meeting project goals
