About the Role
We are seeking a Power BI Specialist to assess and clients data analytics platform on Azure by leveraging AI for cost avoidance, report creation, data insights, and script development. The role involves evaluating the feasibility of custom Power BI visuals, assessing potential risks associated with non-standard elements in Power BI reports, and developing a roadmap document that client can use for future decision-making.
Additionally, this role will be responsible for migrating the existing Azure Analysis Services (AAS) tabular model to Power BI Premium. The candidate should have deep expertise in translating AAS models to Power BI, ensuring that permissions and controls are applied effectively to prevent downstream reports from modifying key metrics and KPIs. Furthermore, the specialist will be responsible for converting existing visuals into reusable Power BI custom visuals for client use.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Power BI development, data analytics, and AI-assisted reporting, along with a strategic mindset to identify risks and opportunities for optimizing reporting solutions. This role requires a mix of hands-on technical expertise and strategic assessment capabilities.
Key Responsibilities

• Assess how AI can enhance clients capabilities, including cost avoidance, Power BI report automation, data insights, and script development.
• Provide a roadmap document outlining AI-driven enhancements for clients Power BI environment.
• Evaluate the feasibility and benefits of creating custom Power BI visuals as part of clients portfolio.
• Assess whether client should develop custom visuals internally or engage a vendor.
• Identify risks associated with using non-standard elements in Power BI reports and propose mitigation strategies.
• Lead the migration of Azure Analysis Services (AAS) tabular models to Power BI Premium, ensuring proper translation and optimization.
• Implement permission and control mechanisms to ensure that downstream Power BI reports cannot modify key metrics and KPIs.
• Convert existing visuals into reusable Power BI custom visuals for client use.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align reporting solutions with business objectives.
• Optimize Power BI data models and report performance.
• Implement best practices for Power BI governance, security, and scalability.

• 5-10 years of experience in Power BI development, including data modeling, report creation, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of Power BI Service, Power Query, DAX, and M language.
• Proven experience in migrating Azure Analysis Services (AAS) tabular models to Power BI Premium.
• Expertise in applying permissions and controls to restrict unauthorized modifications in downstream Power BI reports.
• Experience with AI-driven analytics tools and how they integrate with Power BI.
• Knowledge of custom Power BI visual development and API integrations.
• Ability to assess risks and propose solutions for non-standard Power BI elements.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Azure Synapse, Data Lake, etc.) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create strategic assessment documents.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in an agile environment.
