About the Program:
The Industry Immersion Fellowship at Volvo Group is a unique program that enables university faculty and post-doctoral researchers to gain hands-on industry experience by working full-time with our technical team at Volvogroup. While a monthly stipend of
30,000 will be provided by Volvo Group, the deputing university is expected to continue paying the participant's regular salary during the fellowship period.
About the Role:
Virtual sensors (also called software sensors or soft sensors) are algorithm-based estimators that infer hard-to-measure or expensive-to-sense physical parameters using mathematical models, real sensor inputs, and historical data.
They don't require physical hardware but operate in real-time using:
Control-oriented models
Machine learning or AI algorithms
Signal fusion from existing sensors
To design and implement virtual sensor models using physics-based and data-driven approaches.
To simulate and validate virtual sensors using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or vehicle test data.
To evaluate the accuracy and response time of virtual sensors compared to actual sensor readings.
To apply virtual sensors in real-time applications like ECU control, diagnostics, or digital twins.
