The Wholesale Credit Portfolio Management team manages the credit portfolio via preparation of analysis and reporting for regular Governance forums, detailed reviews / analysis of sectors or segments of the portfolio (which may include sensitivity analysis) and manages and develops frameworks such as Single Name Concentration and Risk Appetite Statements. Primary responsibilities for the role holder will cover the areas of:

  • Analysing and monitoring the credit health of the Global Wholesale Credit portfolio while working within the matrix across multiple stakeholders (Regions and Lines of Business). This requires an ability to complete detailed analysis of quantitative sources to understand and summarise trends in data, as well as interpreting qualitative statements, for example in industry research. The scope of analysis may also include climate risk data sourced internally or externally. This will support portfolio reviews and may assist in further development and refinement of frameworks.
  • Providing reporting for internal and external stakeholders. This includes reporting trends and metrics as required and identifying key drivers of trends.
  • Assisting in governance activities across Wholesale Credit Risk, including leading pack collation, writing minutes and supporting team members on proposal papers for sector reviews or caps.
  • Applying sensitivity analysis (stress testing) to the portfolio to identify vulnerabilities and set risk appetite. This will include sourcing and scoping data, and liaising with credit risk SME to understand the potential impact on the portfolio.

Role Context
  • The jobholder will be required to support regular deliverables for Senior Executive Management (including Regional Heads of WMR, Global Head of WMR) and will ultimately be responsible for his/her actions;
  • PM will be expected to support the wider team by providing high quality analysis and input for Global Sector Reviews, Bespoke Stress Tests, Global Cap Reviews, Risk Appetite Reviews, Frameworks (Single Name Concentration and Industry Risk Concentration), Review & Challenge of Regulatory Stress Tests and other parameters set by the Global Portfolio Oversight Committee, Group WCMR and / or the Group RMM.
  • PM will be expected to provide support around a number of Committees and meetings, including the Global Portfolio Oversight Council.
  • PM will be expected to provide analysis and reporting to a number of senior internal and external stakeholders, both regular and ad hoc. It is necessary to work effectively with others across the WMR function to ensure the production of reports is insightful, professional and fit for purpose.

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Knowledge
  • An experienced risk manager with over 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 of WMR experience or equivalent and a good understanding of Group and Regional policies, governance procedures and lending guidelines.
  • The job holder will have a good knowledge of credit risk, having had experience at either a regional or country level Wholesale Credit Risk team.
  • The job holder will have advanced analysis skills, including data manipulation and presentation.
  • Proven ability to engage with internal stakeholders regularly by understanding and sharing commercial practices, challenges and potential solutions and by working collaboratively.
  • Conversant with at least one of risk appetite, balance sheet and P&L issues.
Competencies
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and spoken English.
  • Sound analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to summarise data and information from multiple sources, and present key findings in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Assist in compiling insightful reports and minutes for governance meetings.
  • Quick learner with the ability and desire to become SME in technical areas
  • Be change-oriented and able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing demands and manage stakeholder expectations. This role is expected to have multiple deliverables with multiple team members at any one time.
