The Site Engineer (Plumbing & Sanitation) is responsible for planning, execution, supervision, and quality control of all plumbing and sanitary works at the site. The engineer ensures that all systems are installed as per design, applicable codes, and project specifications while coordinating with other trades and maintaining project timelines and safety standards.
Review plumbing and sanitation drawings, specifications, and BOQ.
Coordinate with design consultants, architects, and other engineering teams.
Schedule and monitor daily plumbing activities at the site.
Coordinate with procurement for material delivery and inventory control.
2. Site Execution
Supervise installation of plumbing systems including:
Water supply lines (cold/hot)
Drainage and sewage systems
Rainwater harvesting systems
Pump sets, water tanks, and sanitary fixtures
Ensure work execution aligns with approved drawings and specifications.
Perform site inspections for layout, levels, slopes, and pipe routing.
3. Quality Control & Safety
Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and safety compliance.
Enforce adherence to IS/IPC/NBC/local plumbing codes and standards.
Identify and resolve any on-site issues or discrepancies.
Prepare and maintain inspection checklists and quality documentation.
4. Testing & Commissioning
Supervise pressure testing, leakage checks, and functional testing of plumbing systems.
Coordinate third-party inspections where required.
Assist in commissioning and handover of plumbing & sanitary systems.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily progress reports, labor and material records.
Track installation status and submit regular progress updates to management.
Prepare as-built drawings and O&M documentation.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong technical knowledge in plumbing and sanitary systems.
Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and specifications.
Familiar with codes: IPC, IS codes, NBC, local municipal norms.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills on site.
Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and project scheduling tools.
Good communication and team coordination skills.
Qualifications:
Diploma / B.Tech / B.E in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
Minimum 3-7 years of experience in plumbing & sanitation works at construction sites (residential, commercial, or infrastructure).
Preferred Experience:
Experience with high-rise or large-scale commercial/residential projects.
Familiarity with green building standards (LEED/IGBC) is a plus.
Knowledge of water conservation, STP/ETP systems, and sustainable plumbing systems.
