Plumber - Solar Installation ()

A Solar Plumber is responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining plumbing systems related to solar water heating or solar thermal systems. This role involves working with pipes, pumps, storage tanks, heat exchangers, and circulating systems that integrate with solar thermal technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems for

solar water heaters

and

solar thermal energy systems

. Connect solar collectors to storage tanks, pumps, valves, and heat exchangers. Lay out, measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes and tubing used in solar systems. Ensure proper flow rates, pressure levels, and hot water circulation. Seal, insulate, and test piping systems for leaks and efficiency. Install safety components such as pressure relief valves and temperature controls. Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications. Collaborate with solar technicians, electricians, and engineers on system layouts. Perform routine inspection and maintenance of installed solar plumbing systems. Troubleshoot system issues related to water flow, pump failures, heat exchanger performance, and piping faults. Follow safety protocols and comply with local plumbing and solar installation codes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as a

plumber

; experience with solar thermal systems is an advantage. Strong knowledge of

piping systems

, pumps, valves, and hot-water circulation. Ability to read and understand plumbing schematics and solar system diagrams. Knowledge of local plumbing regulations and building codes. Skilled in soldering, brazing, PVC/CPVC installation, and mechanical fittings. Ability to work at heights (roof-based installations). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Physical fitness for handling equipment, pipes, and outdoor work.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in solar water heating installation (where applicable). Experience with solar thermal collectors, heat pumps, or hybrid water heating systems. Basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
