Role Title: Platform Engineering Manager
Position Summary:
As a Principal Platform Engineer Manager this role will focus on leading platform engineering teams in designing and building scalable, secure, and efficient infrastructure on Azure. The emphasis will be on designing and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and containerized solutions to support enterprise-scale application development and deployment. This role also includes mentoring engineers, driving automation, and collaborating across teams to deliver self-service capabilities and resilient environments. A key aspect of the role involves leveraging advanced Azure servicessuch as Azure Front Door and Azure Application Gatewayalongside third-party technologies like Cloudflare to enable secure, high-performance, and globally distributed applications.
Job Responsibilities:
Development:

• Design and develop automated infrastructure, continuous integration/delivery pipelines, service pipelines, and technology capabilities that drive application development velocity and improve access to infrastructure services.
• Implements improvements to all areas of pipeline automation and infrastructure services, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of FM's Platform capability.
• Consistently collaborates and works effectively as a team within Automation Services and other groups to accomplish goals & objectives.

Operations:

• Completes backlog items daily. These activities include monitoring the backlog, working on backlog items, responding to incident tickets received from the service desk, processing change requests, and troubleshooting technical issues. Acts as an escalation point as necessary.
• Provides support for business and technology initiatives that require assistance from automation teams.
• Maintains clear, concise, and accurate documentation for processes and configurations. Ensure documentation is kept current and in the proper shared, accessible location.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.

Security:

• Contributes to the FM security standard process and ensures that technologies and security policies are implemented to support those standards. Recommends and implements solutions to identified gaps.
• Stays aware of automation, CI/CD, and Platform changes by following industry experts, publications, newsfeeds, and threat intelligence sources. Recommends and implements solutions to improve FM's ongoing security practices.
• Management manages a group of Platform Engineers

Skill and Experience:

• 7 to 9 years of experience required to perform essential job functions.
• Additional Experience Qualifier (optional): 7+ years of modern application development experience with large scale business applications in fast-paced iterative development environment. 5+ years of experience in public cloud5+ years designing, developing, and implementing business applications from business concept through to production.
• Programming and Scripting: Proficiency in C#, Python, Bash, and PowerShell. Experience with middleware platforms like IIS or Nginx.
• Infrastructure: Deep experience with Azure services (AKS, App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Front Door, App Gateway), networking, and cloud-native architecture. Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, or ARM templates.
• CI/CD Tools: Expertise in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Octopus Deploy. Familiarity with deployment strategies like blue-green and canary.
• Containerization: Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Cloud Networking & Security: Experience with Cloudflare for DNS, CDN, and security services. Familiarity with WAF, SSL/TLS, and DDoS protection.
• Observability (Supportive): Familiarity with DynaTrace, Prometheus, or Grafana for monitoring and telemetry integration.

Must Have Skills:

• Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• CI/CD tools, especially Octopus Deploy and deployment strategies
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
• Containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Configure and manage Octopus Deploy Tentacle agents for deployment coordination.
• Design and implement Azure Front Door and App Gateway for secure, scalable traffic routing.
• Integrate Cloudflare services for performance optimization and security .

Education and Certifications:

• 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
