Job Purpose:
The Plant Head oversees the optimal utilization of the plant, effective production cost management, and adherence to internal controls and risk management practices. This role ensures high-quality concrete production, timely logistics, and prompt resolution of customer complaints. The Plant Head promotes team development, coordinates maintenance activities, manages raw material procurement, and implements efficient waste management practices. This position also drives business expansion, ensures compliance with legal and regulatory standards, fosters transparency in operations, and develops and enforces plant-level policies.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management:

  • Ensure optimal plant utilization and manage production costs effectively, adhering to internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Oversee logistics to guarantee timely delivery and efficient resource utilization.
Quality Control:
  • Maintain high-quality standards for concrete production and address quality issues promptly.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure on-time proof of delivery (POD).
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
  • Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Safeguard plant assets and maintain statutory compliance.
Team Development:
  • Promote multiskilling and manage working hours and attendance of plant staff.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to enhance staff capabilities.
Maintenance and Housekeeping:
  • Coordinate with the area maintenance team to ensure proper maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Ensure standards of TM/Batching Plant and TM availability and Housekeeping.
Raw Material Management:
  • Oversee raw material procurement and inventory to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Implement efficient waste management practices, including the use of recycled water.
Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, including capital expenditures and operational costs.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
Business Expansion:
  • Drive the establishment of new plants and the expansion of business operations within the zone.
  • Collaborate with the Zonal BD Officer to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Standards:
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory standards relevant to plant operations, including environmental regulations and labour laws.
Transparency in Operations:
  • Foster openness and clarity in communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure stakeholders have access to accurate and timely information.
Policy Adherence and Development:
  • Develop and enforce policies to guide operational activities and decision-making at plant level.
  • Continuously review and update policies to align with industry standards and business objectives.

Qualifications:
Educational Qualification
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical), Business Administration, or related field.
Work Experience (Range of years)
  • 10+ years of experience in plant operations, preferably in the RMC or manufacturing sector.
Industry Knowledge
  • Operational management, quality control, health & safety compliance, team development, financial management, business expansion, policy adherence, transparency.
