The Plant HR will be responsible for overseeing all HR, IR, and compliance-related functions at the manufacturing unit. This role ensures adherence to statutory requirements, effective management of contract workforce, harmonious industrial relations, and efficient manpower planning aligned with plant operations and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Statutory & Factory Compliance
Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable labour laws and the Factories Act, 1948.
Maintain statutory registers, returns, and records as per local and central regulations.
Coordinate timely renewal of factory licenses, labour registrations, and statutory permits
Prepare for and handle inspections from Factory, Labour, PF, ESIC, and other authorities.
Liaise with government departments (DISH, Labour, PF, ESIC, etc.) for compliance and statutory submissions.
Support internal and external audits, ensuring no non-compliances.
2. Manpower Planning & Deployment
Develop annual manpower plans in line with production and business requirements.
Manage workforce budgeting, optimization, and deployment across shifts and departments.
Coordinate with production heads for manpower forecasting and rationalization.
Monitor absenteeism, overtime, and productivity metrics regularly.
3. Contract Labour Management
Oversee all contract labour operations in alignment with CLRA Act provisions.
Conduct periodic audits of contractors to ensure statutory adherence.
Verify and approve contractor bills after due compliance checks.
Drive safety induction, training, and orientation for contract employees.
4. Industrial Relations & Employee Discipline
Maintain harmonious industrial relations within the plant premises.
Act as the key contact for workmen, union representatives, and local labour authorities.
Handle grievances, disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and dispute resolutions.
Manage negotiations with union (if applicable) on wages, settlements, and policy changes.
Build proactive IR strategies to prevent conflicts and disruptions.
5. Employee Welfare & Engagement
Ensure implementation of statutory welfare measures under the Factories Act.
Drive employee engagement and communication initiatives at the plant.
Monitor facilities such as canteen, transport, medical, and housekeeping.
Address worker welfare concerns promptly and effectively.
6. Liaisoning & External Coordination
Liaise with local authorities, labour departments, and external agencies for smooth plant operations.
Handle labour inspections, show-cause notices, and compliance replies.
Represent the company in legal or conciliation proceedings as required.
7. HR Operations & Reporting
Oversee attendance, leave, overtime, and payroll inputs for the plant.
Ensure accurate and timely HR data reporting to corporate HR.
Monitor HR KPIs - absenteeism, attrition, overtime, and manpower cost.
Support implementation of HR systems, policies, and process improvements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of labour laws, statutory compliance, and IR practices.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Hands-on experience in managing contract labour and government liaisoning.
Ability to handle union and employee relations tactfully.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving capability.
Proficiency in MS Office and HR information systems (SAP / HRIS preferred).

Desired Candidate Profile
8-15 years of relevant HR & IR experience in manufacturing or plant-based industries.
Exposure to handling large-scale contract manpower and compliance audits.
Sound understanding of statutory laws applicable to Maharashtra.
Proven experience in liaisoning with local and statutory bodies.
Qualification in MPM / MSW / LLB will be an added advantage.
