About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Plant HR Head to lead the Human Resources and Industrial Relations function at our auto parts manufacturing facility specializing in welding processes. The incumbent will act as a strategic partner to the Plant Head, driving people productivity, industrial harmony, and compliance excellence on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Industrial Relations (IR) & Employee Relations
Maintain harmonious relations between management, workers, and union representatives.
Handle disciplinary actions, grievances, and settlements under the Industrial Disputes Act and related labour legislations.
Liaise with labour departments, statutory bodies, and local authorities for compliance and audits.
Build proactive engagement mechanisms to pre-empt conflicts and ensure zero man-day loss.
2. Workforce Planning & Deployment
Plan and monitor manpower across all shifts to ensure optimal shopfloor productivity.
Drive recruitment for blue-collar and supervisory staff in alignment with production schedules.
Build a flexible workforce strategy with contract manpower optimization and retention focus.
3. Performance & Productivity
Implement and monitor performance development processes for plant teams.
Analyse absenteeism, overtime, and productivity data to identify improvement areas.
Work with production and operations heads to link manpower productivity with business KPIs.
4. Statutory Compliance & Audits
Ensure 100% compliance under Factories Act, Contract Labour Act, and all applicable labour laws.
Maintain accurate statutory records and ensure timely returns.
Prepare for internal and external compliance audits; close observations with CAPA actions.
5. Learning, Engagement & Capability Development
Drive training programs for shopfloor staff on safety, discipline, and technical skills.
Lead employee engagement, welfare, and safety initiatives aligned with plant goals.
Conduct periodic skill assessments and coordinate with L&D for upskilling interventions.
6. HR Operations & MIS
Manage payroll inputs, attendance, and HR systems for plant workforce.
Prepare HR analytics dashboards covering attrition, headcount, and manpower cost.
Support budgeting and productivity improvement initiatives at the plant level.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
IR Climate: Zero man-day loss due to IR issues.
Statutory Compliance: 100% adherence, zero NCs in audits.
Productivity: Output per employee growth % vs. previous year.
Attrition: Maintain below 8-10% annualized for critical categories.
Engagement: Employee satisfaction >80% in annual survey.
Candidate Profile
Qualification: MBA / PGDM in HR or MSW (Full-time).
Experience: Minimum 15 years in manufacturing HR, with strong exposure to IR and shopfloor HR.
Industry Preference: Auto components, engineering, or process manufacturing.
Skills Required:
Deep knowledge of labour laws and union handling.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
Data-driven mindset and proficiency in HR analytics.
