Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Head to lead manufacturing operations in our
Diesel Generator manufacturing unit. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic
oversight and tactical execution of Production, Planning & Control (PPC), QC, Design, Supply
Chain, Vendor Development and Sales & Service Coordination. The ideal candidate will be a
results-driven leader with a strong background in the Diesel Generator Industry, capable of driving
operational excellence, ensuring product quality, and meeting customer commitments. You will be
accountable for the plant's overall performance, profitability, safety, and team development.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualification: B. Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a
recognized university.
Experience Level: A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in the electrical
equipment manufacturing industry (preferably Diesel Generator Sets, automobile industry,
heavy engineering, motor, alternators, or transformers). At least 5 years must be in a senior
leadership role such as Plant Head or Operations Manager.
Hands-on Background: Must have a strong foundation in an engineering/fabrication
environment and be proficient in interpreting engineering drawings.
Age & Attitude: 40+ years of age, demonstrating a positive, solution-oriented attitude and
impeccable integrity.
Required Skills Set
Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of modern production planning tools, electrical
control panels, and basic PCB manufacturing processes. High proficiency in MS Office
(Word, Excel) and ERP systems.
Standards & Compliance: Expert-level knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and strong working
knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health &
Safety), working knowledge of CPCB norms.
Audit & Documentation: Proven expertise in developing and implementing QMS
documentation, successfully managing customer audits, and other critical safety audits.
Leadership: Exceptional team building and leadership skills with a track record of motivating
teams to achieve organizational goals.
Process Improvement: Skilled in lean manufacturing principles, including the
implementation of Kaizen, time and motion studies, and bottleneck analysis to drive
continuous improvement.
Supply Chain and Vendor Management: Skilled in strategic sourcing, supplier
development, cost optimization, and long-lead item planning (engines, alternators,
controllers).
Production Capability: Ability to handle multi-shift work environment with stringent delivery
deadlines.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Translate organizational goals into actionable plant-level strategies and schedules with clear
timelines.
Report directly to top management with comprehensive status updates, production reports,
MIS data, and formal presentations using tools like Gantt/PERT charts.
Drive resource optimization (manpower, machinery, materials) and manage the plant's
operational budget, including Capex planning for identifying and eliminating departmental
bottlenecks.
Take full accountability for the plant's P&L and overall performance metrics.
Production , Planning & Control (PPC)
Oversee the entire production lifecycle, ensuring adherence to output plans and quality
standards.
Plan all raw materials, consumables, and tooling in advance, maintaining optimal inventory
levels and managing the lifecycle of tools.
Make critical decisions regarding equipment use, upgrades, and preventative maintenance
schedules.
Develop and manage a robust network of sub-vendors for outsourcing activities, ensuring
quality and timely delivery while reconciling materials.
Coordination with Design Team for design changes to existing sets/ generation of new
designs.
Sales & Services Coordination
Act as the primary bridge between the commercial (Sales/Marketing) and production teams
to ensure manufacturing plans are aligned with sales forecasts and customer delivery
commitments.
Lead the service department to address field feedback, manage warranty claims efficiently,
and ensure the availability of spare parts.
Enhance customer satisfaction by ensuring on-time delivery and superior product quality.
Ensure maximum number of sets are covered under AMC and ensure spares and service
revenue.
Provide life cycle support for the DG sets.
Quality, Safety & Team Development
Champion a culture of safety and quality across the shop floor, ensuring strict compliance
with all QMS and safety norms.
Lead, mentor, and develop the production, planning, and quality teams, fostering a
collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Be available on the shop floor or on-call during extended hours as required by operational
demands
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
