The Plant Head will be responsible for overall operations, production, maintenance, quality, safety, and statutory compliance of the steel manufacturing plant at Taloja. The role involves driving operational excellence, optimizing costs, ensuring safety and quality standards, and achieving production targets in alignment with the business objectives of Turakhia Steels Private Limited.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Production
Oversee end-to-end plant operations including melting, rolling, finishing, dispatch, and utilities.
Ensure achievement of production targets in terms of quantity, quality, and delivery timelines.
Optimize plant capacity utilization, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Maintenance & Engineering
Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of all plant machinery and utilities.
Drive equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and improve asset life.
Coordinate with engineering teams for capex planning, modernization, and plant expansion.
Quality Assurance
Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and customer specifications.
Implement and maintain ISO, TQM, and other applicable quality systems.
Address customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Promote a strong safety culture across the plant.
Ensure compliance with statutory norms related to pollution control, hazardous waste management, and workplace safety.
Cost Control & Budgeting
Prepare and manage the plant operating budget.
Monitor and control manufacturing costs including raw materials, power & fuel, consumables, and manpower.
Drive cost-reduction and efficiency-improvement initiatives.
People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional plant teams.
Ensure effective manpower planning, training, and performance management.
Maintain healthy industrial relations and handle labor-related matters.
Compliance & Statutory Requirements
Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Labour Laws, Pollution Control Board norms, ESIC, PF, and other statutory requirements.
Liaise with government authorities, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with procurement, logistics, sales, and corporate support functions.
Prepare and present MIS reports on production, costs, safety, and operational performance.
Report plant performance, risks, and improvement plans to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Metallurgical / Electrical / Production preferred).Candidates with an engineering degree will be strongly preferred.Postgraduate qualification in Operations or Management will be an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum
3 years of experience
in steel manufacturing, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role.

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Sound knowledge of safety, quality systems, and statutory compliance.

Preferred Candidate Profile
Prior experience in integrated steel plants, rolling mills, or TMT bar manufacturing.
Exposure to automation, energy management, and process optimization.
Ability to work under pressure and manage large operational teams in a manufacturing environment.
