The Plant Head will be responsible for complete ownership of manufacturing operations, including daily production planning, machine selection for new plant or expansion, process optimization, R&D-led improvements, quality assurance, and team leadership.
The role demands strong hands-on exposure in laser cutting, press brake bending, welding, fabrication, and CNC machining, with the ability to scale operations efficiently.
Plan and control daily production schedules for:
Fiber Laser Cutting
Press Brake Bending
Fabrication & Welding
CNC Turning & VMC
Conduct daily morning production meetings
Monitor:
Machine utilization
Output vs plan
Breakdown & downtime
Ensure smooth material flow from raw material ? finished goods
Prepare and review daily MIS, production reports, and OEE data
2. PRODUCTION PLANNING & CONTROL (PPC)
Create weekly & monthly production plans based on order priority
Balance load across machines (Laser, Press Brake, CNC)
Optimize:
Cutting nesting efficiency
Bend sequencing
Welding workflow
Reduce WIP, bottlenecks, and idle time
Coordinate with Sales, Purchase, Stores, and Dispatch
3. MACHINE SELECTION & NEW PLANT SETUP
Lead new plant setup / expansion projects
Finalize:
Factory layout (laser ? bending ? fabrication ? machining)
Power, air, safety & material movement planning
Machine Selection Expertise Required In:
Fiber Laser Cutting Machines (2kW-12kW+)
CNC Press Brakes (Electric / Hydraulic)
CNC VMCs & Turning Centres
Welding Automation (TIG/MIG/Robotic - if applicable)
Tool room machinery
Vendor comparison based on:
Capacity & future scalability
Accuracy & repeatability
Service & spare availability
ROI & operating cost
Oversee installation, commissioning, trials & SOP creation
4. PROCESS ENGINEERING & R&D
Drive process improvements for:
Better cut quality & cycle time
Bend accuracy & repeatability
Welding strength & finish
Strong expertise in:
Press tool / die analysis
Strip layout & process planning
Die manufacturing & try-outs
Lead R&D initiatives for:
New product development
Design-for-manufacturing (DFM)
Cost reduction & material optimization
Improve tool life, productivity, and part quality
Conduct trials, validations, and documentation
Work closely with Design & Engineering teams
Establish preventive & breakdown maintenance systems
Reduce machine downtime
Maintain critical spares inventory
Improve machine life and reliability
7. TEAM LEADERSHIP & MANPOWER MANAGEMENT
Lead teams including:
Production Engineers
Supervisors
Machine Operators
Maintenance Staff
Plan manpower as per capacity and expansion
Conduct:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma / B.E / B.Tech - Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering
MBA (Operations / Manufacturing) - Preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
12-20+ years in Sheet Metal & Fabrication Industry
Minimum 5+ years as Plant Head / Factory Head / Operations Head
