Job Description

As the Plant Head in a green field project, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the entire plant operations from inception to production. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and lead a highly efficient and sustainable manufacturing facility. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution, compliance with environmental regulations, and achievement of production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan for the establishment of the green field plant.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely completion of all project phases.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation measures.
Facility Setup and Commissioning:
  • Determine the plant layout, equipment requirements, and necessary infrastructure for efficient production.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to procure and install equipment and systems.
  • Oversee plant commissioning activities and ensure all systems are operational within specified parameters.
Operational Management:
  • Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all plant operations and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Manage production schedules, inventory levels, and distribution processes to meet customer demands.
  • Optimize plant efficiency and productivity through continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a competent workforce to support plant operations.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, employee engagement, and continuous learning.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting their professional growth.
Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Sustainability:
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and permits related to plant operations.
  • Implement and maintain environmental management systems to minimize the plant's ecological footprint.
  • Promote sustainable practices and drive initiatives for energy conservation and waste reduction.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track plant performance, including production output, quality metrics, and resource consumption.
  • Prepare regular reports on operational performance, highlighting areas of improvement and proposing corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in a relevant field such as mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (typically 8-10 years) in a similar role, preferably in green field project management within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor complex projects within defined timelines and budgets.
  • Sound knowledge of plant operations, including production processes, equipment, and maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and environmental standards applicable to manufacturing plants.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose effective solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at various levels.
