The Plant Head will be responsible for overall management of plant operations, ensuring high levels of productivity, quality, cost-efficiency, and safety. The role involves strategic planning, production management, maintenance, manpower optimization, and continuous process improvement across printing and packaging operations.
Key Responsibilities:1. Production & Operations Management
Plan, organize, and oversee daily operations to ensure on-time production and delivery targets are met.
Optimize machine utilization across printing (e.g., rotogravure, flexo, offset) and packaging lines.
Monitor production KPIs (OEE, yield, wastage, downtime) and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with planning, procurement, and sales teams for seamless order execution.
2. Quality Assurance
Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO, BRC, GMP, etc.) and customer specifications.
Drive zero-defect culture and implement continuous improvement (Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S).
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.
3. Maintenance & Technical Efficiency
Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance of machinery and utilities.
Ensure availability of spares, tools, and technical support.
Evaluate and upgrade plant technology to improve productivity and reduce costs.
4. Cost & Resource Management
Control operational costs (materials, manpower, energy, waste) to achieve budgeted targets.
Implement waste reduction programs and process optimization initiatives.
Manage annual budgets, CAPEX, and resource allocation.
5. Safety, Compliance & Sustainability
Enforce EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) norms and legal compliance.
Promote a culture of safety and housekeeping (5S implementation).
Support sustainability initiatives (energy conservation, recycling, green packaging).
6. People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop production, quality, and maintenance teams.
Ensure training and skill development for operators and supervisors.
Foster a performance-driven and collaborative work culture.
7. Strategic Initiatives
Participate in long-term planning, capacity expansion, and process automation projects.
Support new product development and trials in coordination with R&D and marketing teams.
Drive digital transformation initiatives (ERP, MIS reporting, IoT-enabled monitoring).
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's / Master's in Mechanical / Electrical / Printing Technology / Packaging Technology.
15-25 years of relevant experience in printing & packaging (flexible packaging, cartons, labels, etc.).
Strong understanding of printing processes (Rotogravure / Flexo / Offset), lamination, slitting, pouching, etc.
Proven track record in managing large teams and complex operations.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma preferred.
