Job Summary:
The Plant Head will oversee all daily operations of a transformer manufacturing facility, ensuring production targets are met efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. This leadership role requires strong experience in electrical equipment manufacturing, especially transformers (distribution, power, or special transformers), and a proven ability to manage people, processes, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:Operations & Production Management:
Lead and supervise all plant activities including winding, core assembly, tank fabrication, drying, oil filling, testing, and final assembly.
Ensure adherence to production plans, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
Optimize production workflows and reduce cycle times without compromising quality.
Lead, motivate, and manage a multidisciplinary team (production, quality, maintenance, stores, safety, etc.).
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Develop and implement training plans for upskilling the workforce.
Ensure strict compliance with quality norms (IEC/IS/ANSI standards) for transformer manufacturing.
Implement root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues.
Support third-party inspections and customer audits.
Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and testing equipment.
Implement TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and ensure minimal downtime.
Enforce strict compliance with HSE standards and statutory regulations.
Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions.
Drive initiatives to reduce production costs through waste reduction, lean manufacturing, and process improvements.
Monitor plant KPIs such as OEE, yield, productivity, energy consumption, and scrap rate.
Coordinate with SCM for raw materials, components, and consumables.
Monitor inventory levels and minimize excess or obsolete stock.
Contribute to strategic planning and long-term capacity expansion.
Lead lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives.

Decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (required).
15-25 years of experience in transformer manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
