Plant Finance Head / Plant Finance Controller

Plant Head (Operational) & CFO / Corporate Finance Head (Functional)

Role Purpose

The Plant Finance Head will be responsible for

end-to-end financial management of the manufacturing plant

, including preparation and monitoring of plant-level financial statements, cost control, MIS reporting, statutory compliance support, budgeting, and providing financial insights to drive operational efficiency and profitability.

This role acts as a

key finance business partner

to the Plant Head and operations team.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare

monthly, quarterly, and annual plant financial statements

Ensure accuracy of: Plant P&L Balance Sheet items related to plant operations Inventory valuation and reconciliation Coordinate with corporate finance for consolidation and audits Ensure timely

month-end and year-end closing

2. MIS & Management Reporting

Prepare and present

plant-level MIS reports

, including: Cost variance analysis Production vs cost vs yield analysis Fixed & variable cost tracking Develop dashboards covering: Conversion costs Material consumption Power & fuel costs Manpower productivity Provide actionable insights to Plant Head and management
3. Costing & Cost Control

Monitor and control: Raw material costs WIP and finished goods valuation Scrap, wastage, and yield losses Implement and monitor

standard costing systems

Analyze cost overruns and recommend corrective actions Support continuous cost-reduction initiatives
4. Budgeting & Forecasting

Lead preparation of: Annual plant budgets Rolling forecasts Monitor actuals vs budget and provide variance explanations Support CAPEX budgeting and post-investment analysis
5. Inventory & Working Capital Management

Oversee: Inventory controls and physical verification Slow-moving and obsolete inventory analysis Monitor working capital metrics: Inventory days Payables related to plant operations Coordinate with supply chain and stores teams
6. Statutory & Compliance Support

Ensure compliance with: GST (plant-level data, reconciliations) Income tax (TDS coordination) Cost audit requirements (if applicable) Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness
7. Internal Controls & Process Improvement

Establish and monitor

internal financial controls

at the plant Identify process gaps and strengthen SOPs Support ERP implementation / optimization (SAP / Oracle / other)
8. Business Partnering & Decision Support

Support Plant Head with: Profitability analysis Make vs buy decisions New product costing Pricing inputs Participate in operational review meetings Act as a bridge between plant operations and corporate finance
9. Team Management

Lead and develop the plant finance & accounts team Ensure timely task completion and accuracy Build strong coordination with operations, production, and procurement teams
Key Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills

Strong knowledge of: Manufacturing accounting Costing & variance analysis MIS and financial reporting Hands-on ERP experience (SAP preferred) Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, dashboards, analysis)
Behavioral & Leadership Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability Business-oriented mindset with attention to detail Ability to work closely with non-finance stakeholders High integrity and ownership mindset Effective communication and presentation skills
Qualification & Experience

CA / ICWA / MBA (Finance)

preferred 7-15 years of experience in

manufacturing / plant finance

Prior experience as: Plant Finance Head / Controller / Senior Plant Finance Manager Exposure to large manufacturing plants is an advantage
