Job Summary
The Planning Engineer is responsible for production planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure timely manufacturing of products while optimizing resources, materials, and manpower.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and monitor production plans and schedules based on customer orders and forecasts
Coordinate with production, purchase, stores, quality, and dispatch teams
Ensure on-time delivery by tracking daily/weekly production targets
Prepare material requirement planning (MRP) and follow up with procurement
Monitor machine loading, capacity utilization, and bottlenecks
Track production progress and update management on delays or risks
Maintain planning-related MIS reports and dashboards
Support inventory control and reduction of WIP and finished goods
Participate in continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives
Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and company processes
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes
Experience in production planning & control (PPC)
Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP / Oracle / etc.)
Proficient in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, basic formulas)
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong coordination and communication abilities
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Preferred Experience
Exposure to automotive / heavy engineering / fabrication / process manufacturing
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen
Experience handling multiple SKUs and batch production
