The Project Planning Engineer will be responsible for preparing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, resources, and progress reports for civil and interior projects. The role requires strong technical understanding of drawings, proficiency in AutoCAD & SketchUp for planning support, and coordination with execution teams to ensure timely delivery as per scope, quality, and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Scheduling
Develop
project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), bar charts, and timelines
.
Assist in preparing
detailed construction methodology, sequencing, and phasing plans
.
Monitor and update project schedules regularly based on site progress.
Identify delays, critical paths, and propose corrective actions to maintain timelines.
Support in preparing
resource planning
(labour, materials, equipment) aligned with schedules.
Design & Technical Support
Review drawings and prepare
execution sequences
in AutoCAD.
Prepare
3D models, construction sequence visuals, and presentation drawings
in SketchUp for planning and client approval.
Coordinate with design, structural, and MEP teams to integrate drawings into execution plans.
Support in preparing BOQs, cost estimates, and resource requirements.
Monitoring & Reporting
Track daily/weekly/monthly progress and prepare
MIS reports, dashboards, and presentations
for management and clients.
Maintain updated drawing logs, revision control, and issue records.
Compare planned vs. actual progress and report deviations with reasons.
Prepare delay analysis and support claims/extension of time documentation.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and Contractors to align execution with planned schedule.
Coordinate with procurement team for timely material availability as per construction program.
Communicate critical milestones and deadlines to stakeholders.
Participate in progress review meetings and present project status with visual & technical inputs.
Skills & Requirements
Bachelor's/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Strong knowledge of planning tools and MS Excel.
Proficiency in
AutoCAD (2D drafting)
and
SketchUp (3D visualisation & sequencing)
.
Understanding of BOQs, estimation, and resource allocation.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and IS/CPWD codes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
Good communication and team coordination abilities.
