Job Description

A Planning Engineer in civil construction develops, monitors, and controls project timelines and budgets, acting as the mastermind behind project execution. Key duties include creating detailed project plans and schedules, managing resources, collaborating with project teams and stakeholders, and tracking progress to ensure on-time, on-budget completion of civil projects like roads and buildings. Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning:

Develop detailed project plans, work schedules, and budgets based on project specifications.

Scheduling & Resource Management:

Create construction schedules using tools like Primavera P6, manage resource allocation (labor, equipment), and perform resource leveling to avoid bottlenecks.

Cost Management:

Develop cost breakdowns and monitor project costs within Primavera P6 to stay within budget.

Collaboration & Communication:

Liaise with contractors, suppliers, design teams, and other engineers to coordinate project activities.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting:

Track project progress, analyze performance, and produce daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management and clients.

Risk Management:

Identify potential problems and roadblocks and develop proactive solutions.

Compliance & Documentation:

Ensure compliance with project standards, contractual requirements, and maintain proper documentation for approvals and claims.

Change Management:

Handle changes to the project scope through formal change management procedures.

Claims & Delay Analysis:

Perform delay analysis and prepare reports (e.g., Extension of Time - EOT) to support claims.
Key Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.

Analytical Skills:

Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

Communication Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present reports and negotiate with stakeholders.

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail to create accurate plans and track progress effectively.

Strategic Thinking:

Ability to develop strategies to achieve project goals within given constraints.

Problem-Solving:

Proactive in identifying issues and developing solutions.

Knowledge of Civil Engineering:
