Job Summary:
Bechtel’s Infrastructure division is hiring a senior planning professional with experience in utility-scale renewable energy (onshore wind and utility-scale PV solar) proposal and execution planning. The right candidate specializes in preparing & leading the development of project plans and schedules. The Planner will operate as part of a central Renewables team and will need to be flexible, efficient and work autonomously executing tasks within broadly defined parameters. General tasks include schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities. Supports project organizational and administrative activities when delegated. Supervises planning/scheduling activities when delegated. Ensures work is completed as scheduled. Identifies schedule-associated cost trends for management attention.
Key Job Duties:
  • Leads overall planning & schedule development, analysis and reporting efforts for a portfolio of projects.
  • Leads integration of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction schedules.
  • Utilizes resource loading and leveling capabilities of Primavera 6.
  • Produces standard and custom schedules and charts from Primavera 6.
  • Exports and imports data between Primavera 6 and other databases.
  • Responsible for understanding the multiple projects’ scope and schedule objectives.
  • Leads planning and coordinating schedule interfaces with the owner, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Leads the timely preparation and update of detailed execution schedules, resource utilization plans and progress tracking systems.
  • Leads the integration of all activity sequences & logics with the various project plans.
  • Leads accurate schedules, resources, quantities, progress, and performance reporting.
  • Continually monitors critical and near-critical path work and identifies issues for mitigation.
  • Proactively assesses progress, completion forecasts and provides solutions to mitigate schedule delays or to optimize completion.
  • Evaluates project progress against historical indicators and provides a comparative analysis.
  • Leads the implementation of scheduling & progress metrics and monitoring systems.
  • Leads integration of the multi-site, engineering, procurement, construction and start-up planning and scheduling efforts.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with the development and construction of large-scale renewable energy projects (+50MW).
  • Construction and/or scheduling experience involving both subcontracted and direct-hire construction labor.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in directing the planning and cost analysis of full EPC and BOP scope for utility renewable energy projects. Knowledge of Energy Storage Systems, AC coupled systems, and transmission and distribution line construction desirable.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in project cost and schedule analysis. Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for Project Controls activities.
  • Experience working with or directly supporting a project development organization.
  • Strong multi-tasking, as work is performed across a portfolio of projects simultaneously and has significant interaction with stakeholders, subcontractors, OEMs, and vendors as needed.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated skill in presenting scheduling information to management/clients.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with 5-7 years of project controls or planning experience. In lieu of degree 10-12 years of relevant experience in the engineering or construction industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience planning/scheduling on renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar and/or Battery Storage).
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • Expert in Project Control applications and work processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera and Excel.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Utility-scale solar project experience >50MW.
  • Utility-scale wind experience >50MW.
  • NABCEP certification is desirable.
