Job Purpose :

To perform activities pertaining to Piping Material Engineering for projects in the field of Refinery &

Petrochemicals, Oil & Gas, and other chemical projects

Job Accountabilities - Duties & Responsibilities

Engineering activities and site support.

Understanding of Piping Classes and their usage in P&IDs/LDT/Model/MTOs etc. Understanding of Piping material stock cods and their usage in MTO/MR/PR/ISOs etc. Management of stock code library for Piping bulk items Interface management between Engineering stock codes and procurement SAP codes for all piping items Review of bulk MTO prepared by DEC and ensuring correctness of MTOs Review of ITPs Calculation of hydrotest pressures Review of data sheets for piping specialty items Evaluation of offers for valves and specialty items and preparation of TQs/TBEs Review of vendor drawings for valves, semi bulk and specialty items Co-ordination with vendors for piping material Engineering activities Co-ordination with automation team for development of Piping classes in 3D modelling softwares viz.S3D/PDS etc. Preparation of drawings for Piping standard assembly arrangements and semi bulk items Reviewing of project engineering specifications/procedures prepared by DEC and checking their alignment to RIL requirements & standard norms. Ensuring the technical integrity and quality of engineering deliverables Review of IBR packages Review of piping inputs to other Engineering disciplines for co-ordination and interface management Review of material constraints and resolving them by expediting their delivery or suitable
substitutions
Review of SOQs for mechanical contracts Review of Waivers / Deviations / Concession requests raised by different groups involving pifor approval after checks Resolving site engineering queries Engineering support to site construction team, O&M

Skills Required (Knowledge and Skills)

Knowledge of International/national codes, Stds and practices pertaining to piping design viz. ASME/ASTM/API/ISO/BS/MSS-SP/NACE/IS/BIS/IBR/OISD etc. Knowledge of welding and NDT requirements and techniques Review requests for new piping classes and new components by DEC Interdisciplinary checks and co-ordination Knowledge of material management tools/software Knowledge of Automation tools and software Knowledge of procurement and contracting system Monitoring MR/PO delivery, shortfall and surplus Appraise Waivers / Deviations / SERs Technical Bid Evaluation Review Review datasheets and vendor drawings Studying MSDs/P&IDs/LDT, Understanding the plant specific process, operation, maintenance and statutory requirements DOR Review and finalization Preparation/Review of Quality Plan

Key Attributes (Experience and Qualifications)

Necessary:

B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical Engg) or equivalent Knowledge of MS Tools, Material management software Minimum 8-10 Years of Experience of Piping Material Engineering activities in project execution in Refinery & Petrochemicals and Oil & Gas industry

Desirable:

Working experience as a member of PMC team handling LSTK projects Knowledge of welding and material selection criteria Effective written and verbal communication skills * Readiness for posting/traveling to various sites as per requirements
