Position:

Piping Engineer - Skid Packages

Location:

Khar West, Mumbai (supporting Middle East & India projects)

Reports to:

Engineering / Proposals Head

Role Objective

To design, analyze, and estimate piping systems for skid-mounted equipment (firefighting skids, process skids, utility skids), ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Piping Design

Prepare and review

GA drawings, P&IDs, piping layouts, and isometrics

for skid systems. Select and specify pipe classes, valves, fittings, gaskets, and supports. Design routing with focus on

maintainability, accessibility, drainage slope, and nozzle load allowances

. Check piping flexibility, stress considerations, and skid anchoring points. Incorporate

welding details, flange ratings, galvanizing/FBE lining requirements

2. Estimation & MTO

Develop

MTOs for piping, fittings, valves, supports, and instruments

. Calculate

pipe lengths, weld inch-dia, painting/coating areas

. Provide

weight calculations

for structural & piping assemblies. Estimate

man-hours for fabrication, assembly, and testing

. Prepare

BOQs for costing team

to float to vendors.
3. Technical Documentation

Generate piping

BOMs, datasheets, line lists, and valve lists

. Ensure compliance with

ASME B31.3, ASME Sec VIII, API, NFPA, ASTM, and client specs

. Support in

technical clarifications

during pre-bid and post-bid.
4. Coordination (Internal)

Interface with structural, mechanical, and E&I teams for complete skid design. Provide proposals team with

timely technical inputs for estimation and bidding

. Support project execution team with

design handover packages

Qualifications & Skills

B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

3-7 years' experience

in piping design & estimation for skid packages / process modules / static equipment. Proficient in

AutoCAD / Plant 3D / Inventor / SolidWorks

for piping layouts. Strong knowledge of

pipe classes, codes & standards (ASME, API, NFPA, ASTM, IS)

. Familiarity with

fabrication methods, welding, galvanizing, FBE lining, and hydrotesting

. Strong

Excel/Sheets

skills for BOQ & MTO preparation.

Competencies

Strong design fundamentals in piping. Accuracy and speed in MTO/weight calculations. Practical approach with fabrication & erection awareness. Ability to work under strict bid timelines.
